I will delete both of the threads relating to this subject as soon as the subject is dead, which should be quite soon As I said before I have made the board members only now. Before, a guest could reply to a topic, leading to the influx of crap we had here. Now, all posts must come from a registered member, and I highly doubt that any of the spammers will bother to register and wait for approval in order to blast us. If under some twilight-zone scenerio they do, the problem will be much easier to correct and report to the proper authorities. I have deleted a couple of entire threads that were infected by Sir Spamalot. This was admittedly a lazy move on my part in order to not go through and delete each individual message, saving me probably about a half hour of time. I apologize if there was anything in these (very few) threads that anyone needed. There hadn't been much discussion other than discussing the spam on those few threads for awhile. Once again, I am nearing a place in my life where things will hopefully be less hectic. I had a couple of these times last year in which I got a lot on the site done, but unfortunately the periods of rest didn't last long and It has been a very busy winter. I am looking forward to getting 6-8 updates on the site done over the summer and continuing to make Teddy Ruxpin Online a premier resource for fans and collectors of Teddy. The next thing on my list is long-overdue, and that is to post the wonderful contributions of Kayla and others. I hope to one day be able to simply be the moderator of Teddy Ruxpin Online as the web moves to a more wikipedia-ish style, and I am blessed to have such great colleagues and friends here on the board who love Teddy as much as I do and who I trust will continue to be here at the site and help me in that journey. I will leave the board members-only for the remainder of this board's existance, so no more problems there. Josh

Much thanks, Kayla. I am looking forward to the extra couple hours a month I will spend here :-) My apologies to anyone who needed to look back on any of the (very) few threads I have deleted. Rather than going back through and deleting each Spam post, I have simply discarded the entire threads as most of them hadn't been a point of discussion except for discussing the spammers for quite awhile. If these same questions/threads come up in the future I'm sure our group of Teddy lovers won't mind discussing them again, anyway. I know I'd rather discuss differing shades of green in Gimmick's shirt or Tweeg's face between two different TV episodes than ever look at a piece of that junk they were posting here again Cheers~ Josh

If these kind of people spent half as much time trying to better the world as they do trying to wreck it, we could accomplish so much. This is really one of the underlying themes of Teddy Ruxpin's storyline as well... in a way, the talent and knowledge these kind of people possess are a lot like the Crystals... you can do a lot of good, or a lot of bad. Unfortunately, most people choose bad out of short-sightedness, greed, envy and instant gratification.

Due to the sudden influx of spam and junk to the board, I am once again going to make the board members-only, meaning only those registered & approved can post. In the past I wanted to get away from this because I only remember to approve new accounts once or twice a month, and I hate for new Teddy fans to go elsewhere to chat when we have such a great community here. But, I decided that I can save the time I waste deleting crap and spend that time instead checking the board more often, which will be better for me in the long run. So, GoldyGry, thanks to your efforts I will now be here to interact with my friends much more often, and you will have to find another way to annoy me. You accomplished ALL THAT.... I find new reasons all the time why you have such an adoring fandom of Tweeg... you're just like him

BTW, something I have been pondering for awhile and seems to fit in this thread... does anyone else think that eventually we will be so technologically advanced that retro technology - in a lot of forms- will make returns because people actually have a need for a bit of imagination? I think we're a long way from there yet but it will occur.

I am admittedly a card carrying Teddy traditionalist, and do not want to see any major changes to the storyline or such. While these other takes on the characters and the World of Grundo are interesting to me, I would only like to see any changes occur if it was something in addition to the continuation of the story in the mold it currently occupies. There have been other "children's" entertainment properties that took a second look as more grown up fare, and that's OK.. but if it had to be one way or the other, and I'm not trying to offend anyone, but I'd have to choose Teddy to continue on as-is. I once wrote about fifty basic plotlines to what would be a second season of the Teddy Ruxpin cartoon..... I agree Tweeg could never be a good guy, that's the basis of his character... while he will never be Quellor or evil at his core, his deep-rooted greed, paranoia, selfishness and of course the ever expanding need to please mommy would always get in the way of any ability for goodness to grow inside his soul.

It's an interesting comparison for sure... however, I have a big beef with Teddy being used for such comparisons.
They fail to recognize how great the storyline and character are. I think this is one of the most nerve rattling things about the uneducated person throwing Teddy's name around. While the tech is of course no longer groundbreaking or revolutionary- it's still a great way for Teddy's wonderful story to be consumed by the public... and still original when you take ripoffs like TJ Bearytales out of the picture anyway. Teddy's epic tale is second to none and the most original piece of children's entertainment to come out of anywhere since Walt Disney and Jim Henson put their characters on the map. The fact that Teddy gets less credit simply because he was a bit of a "fad" technology wise really, really irks me.

Kayla-
Sounds great... I am in the process of burning the live action pilot to DVD so I can get some screencaps. Your input on that and some more episodes would be wonderful. In addition, I am planning on doing a big summer update during my summer vacation in May/June when I hope to tackle the book reviews. I want to do WOW/Playskool/Yes with the cover art from each edition (hopefully) and then a seperate section for the BackPack editions which have updated artwork and a few stories have been remastered. Would love yours and anyone else's help on this.

Thank you all for your comments and well wishes for the new year. One thing that a couple of you brought up in the discussion was the need for an active TR site. There are currently only two that I know of.... my own and Mathue's Teddy Ruxpin FAQ. I have been at it 11 years now, and I've seen several other sites come and go - mainly, IMO, because the webmasters (most of whom were about my age) grew up and went on to other things. I've been fortunate enough to keep the kid in me alive and although my time is sometimes small, the fire inside me that inspires me to share my positive experiences with these characters has never died. With that being said, time will always be a factor- and I appreciate those of you who have already done so and those of you who have offered to help with the site in any regard. I think eventually this site will and should become a community run resource with myself acting simply as a moderator. Internet technology is moving swiftly in that direction.
With that being said, I'm planning on some big things for the site for 2009, money and time allowing. I'm looking forward to all of you being a part of it.

I hope all Teddy fans have an excellent 2009... and thank you for your continued patronage of this board. When I'm at a low time in my life, as I am now, getting on here and having even the briefest of chats with a fellow fan can perk me right up.
It's been quite a year, hasn't it? We'll leave the troubles that the world brought to us in 2008 behind in this conversation, though, and focus on something positive- 2008 was a wonderful year for Teddy Ruxpin. There are always rumors of new products (and after over half a decade going by with absolutely no chatter I'd say that's very promising) Teddy's 25th anniversary is coming up soon and he's still in production. Costco was added to the list of retailers that are selling Teddy in 2008... and perhaps most importantly, our petitions and letters and prayers were finally answered in 2008 when The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin - all 65 episodes- finally came to DVD.
I hope 2009 holds vastly different outcomes for most of the things in my life and in the world.. but I hope everything going right for Teddy continues on the same path.
Happy New Year Everyone! Josh

Kayla & OneMouse-
Did get both of your contributions, and again a huge thank you. I am working on getting both implemented into the site. Just took on some new responsibilities at work and also went through a great life-changing self-help type course which took up some time... decided after the new year when the Chri$tmas season is over and I have a little more control over my finances that Im going to try going into business for myself again... so just a lot of things happening. Rest assured your contributions have not been forgotten and when I take a small pause to collect my thoughts and work on the site in January they will be on the top of my list.
Keep in touch everyone! jOSH

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to you all!
I have updated the site for the first time in - gasp - four months. Had really hoped since my re-design began last January that I would keep up on things but alas, life still catches up with me.
Today I hadded two new eps to the guide- Take a Good Look and Tweeg's Mom, as well as lyrics to "Mommy" from the Tweeg's Mom episode. Also dropped the 10 year stuff from the main page as time flies and in just a matter of days the site will be celebrating it's 11th calender year of existence.
Anyway, hoping I will be on here more often now as well now that I am back in the scheme of things. Looking forward to catching up with you all.
Josh

On average there has been about 4 pages of Teddy Merchandise on Ebay for the past four or five years. That is increasing a bit and I think the reasons are two-fold. While Teddy is out again he isn't a household marketing term again yet so some people probably don't even know he's back. There are, however, a lot of kids of the 80's who are now not only off at college but also officially never coming back home, off with lives and perhaps now even families of their own. The parents are now cleaning out garages and getting rid of things they might have otherwise been saving... as it's now painfully obvious that that era is over.
The second part of it is economical... some people are now crossing the line into parting with items that in better economic times would just over *that* side of the line instead.
Teddy's return probably cancels out as many sales as it creates, as people who are re-introduced to that would likely want to hang on to their stuff... for people who are not purchasing the new Teddy they would like to strike while the iron's hot and sell.
The sale of Teddy merchandise has always fascinated me as I can't see how anyone would part with any sentimental Teddy items, at least not for anything short of a fortune. Most of my collection I wouldn't give up for anything short of financial independence, lol.
Thanks for posting that Airship... although it's broke and I have some question about the Airbag being deflated (they had a tendency to leak and repair kits are hard to come by) if it stays in the $9-$30 range I will likely bid.

That is a mighty good question... I'm very impressed with your eye for detail. I'm a tad surprised in ten years we've never discussed this before, as everything from the colors in the Airbag to Grubby's eyes being green or blue has been discussed.
I own the Fuzz used in the Live Action movie, he sits right here to my left as I type, very purple. Fuzz in the book "Take a Good Look" that's also to my left is very green. I will make a note to ask Ken about this the next time we talk. Have we noticed the difference in the books as well or just the TV series? If it's a TV series thing I'd chalk it up to the fact two different animation teams worked on episodes (which is also why you can have a perfectly normal looking Teddy in one episode and one that looks like a pear in the next episode) If it's in the Adventure series too I'd wager that it's done simply to show that Fobs are capable of changing colors due to the rainbow falls effect.

I've been looking for an Airship in good shape for almost 10 years... ben outbid twice on Ebay. Congrats on your purchase! One of these days when I see one on there Im just gonna dip into the emergency fund or whatever is needed to finally own one. Someday when I have kids I'd like to decorate their room Grundo style and construct a giant Airship as their playhouse... the Airship is way cool.
