A really neat idea. In most cases, the music could even stand on it's own apart from the stories.

All of the original masters have been preserved by the original composer, and these are what WCT are working from.

Thanks for posting this!
Indeed, it was time for a face-lift. Originally I had planned to re-focus my efforts in a different medium, but with the new toy coming out I felt a website would still have an audience at least for awhile - as we welcome new fans.
There is a LOT of new content coming - including some stuff on YouTube.
The new look is still coming together. Hopefully by the end of the month or so, it will be completely functional with the foundation of content all up and going. I'll be doing an announcement within a month or so about what we are going to be up to for the remainder of the year.

I have a teddy that I have had for years. At one point a couple years ago, I stopped using him. I regret that. He now is completely unresponsive, and the screws are stripped to his cassette player. Watch this video to find out more. Please, please help me! Have you been to our Facebook page? There are lots of repair hobbyists there. Let me know if you don't find an answer soon and I will try to find someone who can help. Good Luck!

Will WCT be releasing the original 1987 cuts of the stories? You know for us old school fellas who want their kids to relive the magic? Fingers crossed. BTW No amount of money would deter me from purchasing them...just saying! I think that would be a great suggestion. My philosophy at the moment is to give them and the newest generation of kids time to develop the kind of brand relationship that has made all of us such ardent lifelong fans. There is definitely a market for Teddy Ruxpin content beyond that key demo as things roll along. I hope one day the music is released, too. The recordings which were once upon a time released by Rhino Records. Great stuff. Some of it was recorded in the 90's, and some has more of the feel of the TV show recordings, just unedited. Please keep these good suggestions flowing here, everyone!

I will post a review of the new version of Teddy sometime next month, after I receive one. I will save most of my thoughts for then, but I'd like to jump in here briefly. I haven't really taken an official position on the new toy because I hadn't seen one or had any interaction with one. I first saw one (a late prototype) last month and was very pleased with it. I imagine I will be even more pleased with the final version. The songs being edited - we've seen that before, when the television series used shortened versions. I think sometimes they may even flow a little better with the story. I think they received honest feedback from children about the length of the stories and songs and adjusted them to make the most impact on their target audience. Do I prefer the unedited versions, myself? Absolutely. I would enjoy the full length stories and songs being available for adults and children who may have a broader attention span, or who are interested in storytelling or music. This is perhaps something we can suggest in the future. There is certainly a market for Teddy Ruxpin media among a wider audience, but from a business and creative standpoint, it makes sense to focus current efforts on establishing Teddy's relationship with a new generation of children first. They need Teddy as much as he needs them and if this suits the current marketplace best and will allow Teddy to capture the maximum number of new imaginations, I'm good with it. This is a good discussion, though. I look forward to diving deeper into it once I've heard the complete collection of Wicked Cool's editions.

The Airship is the remastered story that was first released with the BackPack Toys version. The new dialogue comes from the ABC "animatronic" movie that was released in 1985.

Thank you for your concern. I am glad you enjoy TRO and don't want it to go away. Unfortunately there are things happening out of my control. Rather than fight, and have what has always been a joy tarnished with a negative memory, I am going to create something new - in fact we envision an entire new kind of fan community. What it will be called, and exactly what it will entail, is still up in the air. Rest assured the forums are going nowhere and there will be some sort of website that will still lead people to them

About a year back I was half paying attention to the TV when a stupid show came on and Teddy Ruxpin was a prop in the plot. Although I'm still mad they didn't use Phil's voice - I'm glad the 2 Broke Girls episode helped bring a new member our way! Teddy was also in a movie last year - "90 Minutes in Heaven." starring Kate Bosworth. I helped set that up.

Christmas '86. I was 2.5 at the time. Still remember seeing the commercial - the one with the Englishman voice over. "The only thing he captures... is a Child's imagination." I think that commercial sums up what Teddy is, not just as a plush toy with servo motors - but way more importantly, as a benevolent, genuine character in a fantasy/adventure epic that also teaches you a lot of lessons - without you ever realizing you're "learning." The TV series only heightened my devotion. While a faithful companion to the WoW audiobooks, it also added a lot of depth and humor to the characters. I find it just as entertaining, if not even greater - as an adult. Who HASN'T worked with a guy like Ickley Bognostraclum - or been the victim of the equivalent of a Ying Troll. I wasn't exposed to the ABC Movie until I was nearing adulthood, but I think it's one of the most adventurous examples of a film - especially something for TV - to be produced in it's time period, both in storyline and production. The fine detail that went into the props, set design and of course the invention of what Ken called the "walkaround" animated costumes, was groundbreaking. Ken and AlchemyII were of course responsible for an earlier edition of these on "Welcome to Pooh Corner" for Disney, but they compounded on those ideas significantly for Teddy's first TV production. As Len Levitt, who played Wooly in the movie (and later helped develop the animated series) told me - "It was groundbreaking. We knew we really had something. But of course in show business, everybody wants to do it the way everybody else is doing it - so we got an animated series. We're still mad about that. Someday, maybe we will get over it." I doubt I will ever have children of my own, but I dream of one day being part of helping to showcase how wonderful this story is to the general populace. Thanks to bad business decisions by the people at Worlds of Wonder, most never had the chance to find out originally. Teddy combines elements found in stories like Lord of The Rings, Star Trek, The Muppets and Forrest Gump, and finds and combines a balance of fantasy and heart, to tell a story that is one of a kind remarkable. "A Friend For Life That Comes To Life." was a gift that keeps on giving

Still working on a title, a format and content.
It will be bigger and better than what is already here, for sure!
Web content has evolved while I was busy, I'm looking forward to getting caught up.

Hi All!
I have taken some time away from these boards, as you may have noticed.
I'm Back!
I have asked Elle, (you may know her here as ladyautomata) to be a Moderator, and help me spruce up the place a little.
The Teddy Ruxpin Community needs to expand and flourish - and we're going to be doing some things over the next little while to make that process accelerate.
Thank You all for your patronage here. I don't believe there has ever been this many active members. Get ready to welcome many more!
And feel free to drop me a line and say hi and introduce yourself, if we haven't already met.
~Josh

Having had the pleasure to be present with Phil on several occasions over the past three years, I can say he definitely can do Teddy's voice as if no time has passed. In fact, during the couple of times he's done so in my presence, it's like being taken back to my childhood.
Phil is a genuine, benevolent, talented and bright person. We are very fortunate that life presented him the opportunity to be Teddy. It wouldn't be the same without him.
