I found a rare Arabic version of The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin. This also might mean that there are Arabic Teddy Ruxpin tapes somewhere out there that are so rare that no one's seen them yet.

Yeah, I don't think shortening "My Friend" was a bad decision. It drones on at some points and cutting out 1 or 2 verses doesn't ruin the song.

I got the WCT Teddy today. I am very impressed on the job they did. People complain how the new teddy is ugly and horrible; but it they didn't modernize him a little bit, he wouldn't do well on the market. By the way, they are doing well on the market already. QVC sold 1,000 units in 10 minutes flat. First of all, the eyes are 3D. They are pretty cool because there are a lot more animations than the display one (at toy fair). When he is off, the eyes are completely black. I don't like it. They could have added eyelids that only went up when he was on, and went down when he was off. WCT's 'solution' to this is an 'eye mask' you put on teddy's eyes. I really like the eye mask; it looks really cute on teddy When you turn him on he says, "Hi! My name is Teddy Ruxpin. Can you and I be friends?". He continues to do random eye animations until you select a story. The thing I don't like is there is no tell what the story is when you select it. They have completely removed Come And Discover (The World With Me) from The Airship, but given us back many new lines and even SCENES. There is now a campfire scene, a scene with Tweeg and L.B., etc. I love the new Teddy; he's awesome and I reccommend you purchase him. I didn't mention this, but I got the exclusive original vest version. I will post pictures later because I am too lazy to do it now Wow, it doesn't seem like he's too bad. It does upset me that they removed Come and Discover, but it's cool that they added new scenes and introduced the villain in the first story. Did they record all-new dialogue with the original voice actors or did they just use the Backpack Toys versions of the stories?

They colored the undershirt orange. Why is that? It might be just the lighting. It looks a bit similar to the original Teddys undershirt.

Do you think so? If they do, it could theoretically mean they'll publish all the original stories over time. The cartoon show has plenty of scope for new stories for Teddy Ruxpin because there's plenty of stuff that happens in the cartoon show that doesn't happen in the storybooks. That's actually a really good idea. It would probably be really easy to convert the episodes to stories.

Ah, currency differences.. I didn't know it was Canadian! $118 is probably the price of the original Teddy in today's money if not more, however I still think it is at least $18 too expensive. It really doesn't look that great quality from just the pictures, and most toys today are made cheaply anyways... I think the new Teddy should cost no more than $70. It doesn't seem any more advanced than a 2012 Furby.

Hi! I have a silly question, what size battery goes into a grubby? I just bought 3 and would like to check if the work. He takes 4 C batteries.

Probably the French Playskool Teddy. I've only seen a few for sale in 3 years, and only 2 collectors I've seen have it.

Wow, I'm so glad you got one! He's one of my favorite tape talkers too.
About the animation failing sometimes, you might just need to turn up the volume louder. The way T.T. works is how loud the cassette is controls his mouth, so he doesn't require any animation coding. I learned this through experiences with mine. If the volume is turned down too low, he doesn't hear the sounds to activate his mouth, and so it doesn't, or barely moves. Also another tip, don't move his mouth manually. I tried this with mine and his mouth broke. Luckily I was able to fix it though.

It looks like you have a 2nd generation Grubby. You can tell by the battery cover. 1st generation Grubbys have sort of a latch to open their compartment, 2nd generations are like yours, and 3rd generations are like yours, but with hinges so that it doesn't fall off.
As for the prototypes on the box, they are all like that, and it remained like that throughout its shelf life.

To me it just looks like a regular Teddy. I don't believe it was really Forsse's Teddy. However the fact that it's coming from Disneyland, California is interesting.

I'm sorry, I misremembered from the videos that there was only 1 story included with Teddy. I wasn't trying to spread false information, it was just a mistake.

I heard the 1 story from a video about the new Teddy. I might have been misremembering it though. And I got the $200 from DollyPrince. I didn't see your earlier messages saying the actual price of the Teddy.

I noticed that too. Now he looks like a baby instead of a 16 year old.
Also, the fact that he will be selling for $200 with only 1 story included, barely any movements, and low quality eyes is inexcusable.

It seems like Wicked Cool Toys can't take any criticism. They've convinced themselves that they made the perfect Teddy.
