I've been looking for an Airship in good shape for almost 10 years... ben outbid twice on Ebay. Congrats on your purchase! One of these days when I see one on there Im just gonna dip into the emergency fund or whatever is needed to finally own one. Someday when I have kids I'd like to decorate their room Grundo style and construct a giant Airship as their playhouse... the Airship is way cool.

Oooo, wild idea!! The bed is a mcok-up of the airship with ropes clibing to the ceiling where a sheet is set up to look like the air bag for the ship. *starts drawing plans for next room re-design* A couple of plants here, a painted tower on that wall... heh ^_^

I was lucky enough to get an Airship a few yeas ago. It had been played with, but it was in like-new condition. It was in the box (which was a little faded, but otherwise in good shape) and included a repair kit for the balloon airbag which was still in the plastic. It was clear the ship hadn't been played with in a while. It also came with the Land of Grundo play area vinyl map (which is almost good enough to frame!) and just about every figure released (though some are falling apart). Altogether the set cost me $150, but I would spend it again if I had the chance. The Airship always fascinated me beyond words when I was little, and it wasn't until I was about 10 that I found out there was a toy model of it (in one of the old WoW brochures that came with Teddy...my parents scooped up a few that were on clearance at Toys R Us...) and I knew one day I would own one. I'd still love a life-size model, but that will be for later when I have a bit more money to spend.
Now I've thought about buying a second model and painting it dark blue to look like the Eclipse. I love the Eclipse, too. Maybe if Teddy gets popular enough they'll release a newer model. We'll have to wait and see. I think figures would be great at this point because they're small and inexpensive to manufacture and would help push the product overall without costing a lot of money.
There is an old store display Teddy with Grubby and the stand is constructed as a mini Airship, but it's big enough to house both the talkers. It's very impressive and a dream come true, but it always goes on eBay for around $300-$500. Still, it's a cool item.
Anyways, if you give it time, another Ship will pop up on eBay soon, I'm sure.

For now, this one is mine... and I'm broke for the rest of the month. Guess I'm doing the Kraft thing for the next little while ^_^

I've got half a mind to try and build my own model Airship, but I don't think I'm that patient enough.
Is the Land of Grundo map more detailed than the one in the book? If it is, do you think you could scan it? I'd like to know where certain places are in relation to others.

From what I remember, the Land of Grundo map features a few landmarks that aren't in the books like Leota's Tree House, Tweeg's Mom's, Trembly Fault, and a couple of other places. Not sure I can scan it, but maybe I can take a picture of it with my digital camera for you. I'll try to keep it focused so you can read the names.

The top of the mast is broken off, but other than that it seems like a pretty sweet find for Teddy fans. Hope it goes to someone on this board...the loyal fanbase.

I'm actually rather surprised at how many auctions and sales of these Airship models there are. In fact, there seems to be a lot of rare TR and WoW products on Ebay here recently.
You think that the Teddy's return is causing these people to come out of the woodwork?

On average there has been about 4 pages of Teddy Merchandise on Ebay for the past four or five years. That is increasing a bit and I think the reasons are two-fold. While Teddy is out again he isn't a household marketing term again yet so some people probably don't even know he's back. There are, however, a lot of kids of the 80's who are now not only off at college but also officially never coming back home, off with lives and perhaps now even families of their own. The parents are now cleaning out garages and getting rid of things they might have otherwise been saving... as it's now painfully obvious that that era is over.
The second part of it is economical... some people are now crossing the line into parting with items that in better economic times would just over *that* side of the line instead.
Teddy's return probably cancels out as many sales as it creates, as people who are re-introduced to that would likely want to hang on to their stuff... for people who are not purchasing the new Teddy they would like to strike while the iron's hot and sell.
The sale of Teddy merchandise has always fascinated me as I can't see how anyone would part with any sentimental Teddy items, at least not for anything short of a fortune. Most of my collection I wouldn't give up for anything short of financial independence, lol.
Thanks for posting that Airship... although it's broke and I have some question about the Airbag being deflated (they had a tendency to leak and repair kits are hard to come by) if it stays in the $9-$30 range I will likely bid.
