I don't really like Seinfeld or find it funny, myself, so I've never seen this (very small) Teddy appearance before... But a relative who does like it just e-mailed this screenshot to me, so I figured that I'd post it; It shows a Teddy Ruxpin video - Tweeg Gets The Tweezles - in a scene in a video store. Another recent reference I also heard about is that Teddy got a small mention in the trailer for Seth MacFarlane's movie, Ted, but that's not a family movie by any means (it's R-rated over in the US, and is likely to be 18-rated here in the UK), so I'm not going to link to it here. Basically, though, it's about a boy who wished that his teddy bear could really talk to him (as in, come to life), only to find that this is problematic when he reaches adulthood and wants the bear to move out and get a life of his own - at one point in the trailer, he comments that he wished that, that Christmas when he wished for Ted to come to life, he'd just gotten a Teddy Ruxpin instead. Has anyone else spotted any other small appearances and references of this sort?

That movie sounds all kinds of awesome. I really need to see it. The only Teddy Ruxpin reference I've heard was in a rap song, and I found it accidentally. I can't link that here at all, though, because it was very disturbing and I never want to hear it again.

I believe I know the one you mean - it ended up coming up in one of my searches on YouTube for Teddy-related videos. Definitely not something to be linking to here. Blegh.

That's where I saw it too. Holy cow!!! Talk about nightmare fuel!!! Not something I EVER want to hear in my life, and especially not when I'm watching Teddy Ruxpin videos.
Oh, and I saw part of that movie trailer, but I couldn't get to the Teddy Ruxpin reference. We don't want to link to that one either. Yuck!!!
I hope someone can find the Signfeld (sp) episode, though. I don't get into that show, but my parents watch it and I'd get really excited if I saw Teddy Ruxpin clips on that show.

I'm a Seinfeld fan and noticed this a few years ago I actually had some screencaps for the site that went away with an unfortunate hard disk crash. There are several scenes in this episode, in the first season of Seinfeld, where Teddy videos can be seen - humorously mixed in with different genres. I believe three or four titles can be seen in the episode, and multiples of some of the titles in different places. This would have been filmed in 1989 or 1990 - which is right around the time some of the massive stock of Teddy VHS tapes would likely have been liquidated from Video Stores and Distributors. I would imagine the producers of Seinfeld - who undoubtedly filmed this scene on a soundstage and not a real video store - probably purchased a bulk load of either actual VHS tapes or overstock, empty VHS boxes for this scene. Teddy made appearances in a lot of 80's and early 90's television and movies. Among them - "Big", "She's Having A Baby.", "Home Improvement" and "Mama's Family."

Teddy is on Big? I don't remember seeing, or rather, hearing the DVS narator describe anything about Teddy. I was a huge fan of Home Improvement also, but I don't remember Teddy being there. Of course my love of Teddy Ruxpin was sort of in the background at that time, so I probably didn't notice. Is there any audio reference to him in these shows or just something in the background that only your eyeballs would pick up?

Upon a review of the particular scene I thought Teddy was mentioned in "Big" - it was actually Worlds of Wonder mentioned, by the lead female character. I didn't rewatch the entire film but I believe Teddy can be seen in the toy store at one point as well.
In "Home Improvement", Tim Taylor plays with Teddy but Teddy never speaks (They'd have to put Phil Baron on the payroll - as he's a union member - if they had done that) Teddy is referenced in a joke on "Mama's Family" and although I've never seen the movie, I've heard his appearance in "She's Having A Baby." was prominent.
I believe the only show that ever featured Teddy talking was a 2009 episode of "30 Rock". I'm still trying to get a clip of that to upload to the site.

If you can find that clip I'd like to have it for my Tape Talkers Forum also.

Introduce yourself man. Tell us about yourself. We really are a friendly group. I can't think of a Teddy Ruxpin cameo that I've seen. A lot of these shows and movies, I've never seen, except ALF and Home Improvement.

No. In fact I don't know how to repair a toy like that. I don't even own a Grubby. I own two Teddy Ruxpins, a WoW Teddy I and a WoW/Playskool Teddy II.
