Has anyone ever been ripped off buying a Teddy item on eBay?
I'm getting worried that I'm not going to get the tape/book/Santa suit set that I won. It's been three weeks and I never got a shipping confirmation.

I have been ripped off as a seller numerous times but never as a buyer, at least as far as not recieving the merchandise. I would immediately send the buyer a note and ask where your stuff is. If the buyer doesn't respond I would then contact Ebay and go through that process. If you used PayPal and you never get your stuff, I believe you are insured.
Best of luck!
Also, I am going to delete Out of Date posts in this thread so anyone who wants to post current items can and we dont have to surf through 3 pages. So if there's any off topic discussion it would prolly be best to do it in another thread.

I FINALLY got my shipping confirmation tonight. Wednesday would have been 30 days since I won the auction, and I was ready to open a dispute if I hadn't heard anything by then. I'm thankful that it didn't come to that.
Thanks for the advice!

So far, for all the TR stuff I bought from eBay. I have never been ripped off. I have a few nice choice pieces, some still packaged, others not. Two Baby Teddy dolls was my best find yet, one it it's original packaging.

The worst thing that ever happened to me in a Teddy auction was winning a "Treasure of Grundo" VHS. The auction advertised that the tape had been taken from a video rental store that had since gone out of business, but assured me it was genuine. I received the tape to find it was a TDK VHS (they manufactured blank VHS tapes) and that the tape was simply a copy of the original VHS with a faded slipcase. I still have it, but I will probably pick up another one.
My worst eBay experience occured when I tried to win an auction for wrestling videos. I'm a huge WWE fan and was attempting to buy the complete Wrestlemania Anthology DVD set. There was a "Buy it Now" auction for the set priced at $165 (the retail value was $300). I won the auction and paid for the item. The seller then proceeded to delete himself from eBay. Needless to say I never received the set, nor could I file a complaint with eBay as by the time I decided to do so, the seller was long gone.
Luckily, that is the ONLY time I have been truly ripped off on eBay.

Had a guy try to rip off my Mom once. We know where he lives too since I looked him up in eBay's massive databank of buyers. Need to do some digging to find that.
He bought my Dad's old combat winter jacket and paid for it no problem. There had been a question as to whether he could come pick it up since he lived just across the river from us, but out policy is no pick-ups. Never know what crazies will show up at your door. So not 24-hours later my Mom receives a negative feedback because the guy hadn't received his item yet. I took over all communication at this point. I explained to him that NOTHING on this planet ships in 24-hours, least of all in Canada. He proceeded to berate me and filed a complaint with eBay. I got the complaint thrown out since it had only been 24-hours and then physically called the guy. Not a pleasant call. He tried to get his money back through PayPal who blocked HIM since it had only been 24-hours. In the end he got his coat at the end of the week and we kept his money. We placed a warning in the eBay database next to his name in case he tried this again.
He was by far the worst buyer we ever had.

I have decided being a seller there for the limited things I was selling wasn't worth the hassle. I haven't sold an item there in at least five years now. I'm also so old school I don't think I'd buy anything (other than maybe a rare TR item I had to have) there over $50 bucks or so unless the buyer had feedback 99% or better on at least 50 or so auctions. Sorry to hear of your ripoff Vincent.... that is one of the worse things I have heard happen there.

Yeah...I was pretty upset by it. When I reunited with my birth mom a few years ago, I found out she was an eBay seller...she actually makes some good money off of there. She told me that had she known, she might've been able to help me get my money back, but by then it had been 6 months, and the seller was long gone.
I'm happy to say that my eBay experiences since then have been nothing but a pleasure. Most sellers try to be as accommodating as possible because they fear you will leave them negative feedback, 5which will tarnish their reputation, since good buyers, as Josh mentioned, will not buy items from sellers with anything less than 95%-100% positive feedback.
As with most things in life, it is a good system when it is used by good pepole.

Too bad there will always be those unscrupulous few who will try to exploit the system.

At long last, my Santa suit set has arrived. And what do I find when I get the box home and open it? The Santa suit is missing the hat and the belt. Not what I was expecting when it was advertised as "MIB". Don't get me wrong...it's in great condition, but it's incomplete!
*sigh* I'm sure I can find someone selling another suit sooner or later, but it still irks me that I have to buy it twice to get the complete suit.

I would double-check the auction description and see if anything is mentioned about "no belt / no hat". If there isn't, I would contact the seller and say something.
I'm sure there will be another suit up. Unfortunately, being that it IS the holiday season, you will probably end up paying more for it now than you would've if you waited until Spring or Summer.
Sorry to hear about that. I recently bought a Christmas set, and fortunately had no problems. Hopefully it was no intentional.

It was advertised as "MIB", and he didn't know it wasn't. Oh well, lessons were learned all the way around here. I'm going to do more thorough research about sellers, and that guy will do more thorough research about what he's selling.
And I don't have to buy another suit after all. I can crochet a belt, and today I bought a $5 Santa hat from Build-A-Bear that fits Teddy perfectly! ;D
Thanks for the advice, everyone!

rainbowfalls I had a similar problem when I bought an extra copy of the live action movie... it was "shrinkwrapped" and that was his big selling point that it must have been "new in box" because of that... got it and the tape was unspooled. I too reminded that seller that in 90% of cases "working" and "complete" is a much better selling point.

Holy... lookit what I just found. That's a genuine Gabby doll there with two genuine Teddies. And it shows what Gabby's tape player looks like. I can't afford it now, but it's out there if someone wanted to procure it and do a full scale dissection of it. There's not much known about the first known Teddy KO.
