Hi there,
Been wondering if anyone knows who currently owns the rights to Teddy's universe, for shows, games, and toys. I assume all prior agreements must have elapsed by now? I know that there's a current agreement in place for distribution of the TV episodes on DVD, but I haven't been able to find information on any of the other rights holders.
Thanks! ~ kiki

Teddy ruxpin no longer exists, so nobody makes anything teddy related anymore.

Hi and welcome, kattkieru! As far as I know, the rights are still with who they've always been with - Teddy's creators, at Alchemy II. I hope this is of some help.

The previous posters have been correct - AlchemyII, Inc. is the rights holder. Home Video is currently licensed to Madacy, but once again AlchemyII is also still the owner of the rights to the TV show.

Thank you all very much for the answers! ( This board does not, apparently, do email for bookmarked posts. ^_^; ) Thanks to that answer I was able to find out that Alchemy has let go of all of its trademarks apart from "TEDDY RUXPIN", and that particular one was renewed in 2008. www.wysk.com/index/california/northridge/naajr3e/alchemy-ii-inc/trademarks#TM 78779550 Too bad there's no contact info that' not snail mail, but at least that gives me more options for Googling. Again, thanks for answering!

I just wonder what's going to happen to Alchemy II now that Ken Forsse is no longer with us? I'd assume that Ken's family and the other people at Alchemy II have everything under control and in hand, I'm just curious as to what they'll do. The other thing I've always wondered is did Alchemy II ever close up shop between the different major versions of Teddy Ruxpin? Also, I note that on my Worlds Of Wonder Airship tape, I see that it has Alchemy Communications Group printed on it, but in other placed I see Alchemy II mentioned. So does this mean that ACG closed up shop at some point during the 80s or early 90s? What other major projects, if any, were ACG/Alchemy II involved in?

I think Teddy will be in good hands. Fans need not worry about that.
Alchemy began in Ken's garage in the early 80's. Alchemy's work pre-Teddy was still centered around the Entertainment industry. Ken and the Alchemists created the animatronic costumes used in the "Welcome To Pooh Corner." TV series - and then began working on how to make that technology viable in a smaller product, which resulted in Teddy coming to life, and the rest is history.

I also think it is really neat to hear how it all came together.
