I hope this hasn't been done before. I've read the whole main section of the board and I didn't see it. I thought it might be fun to share the story of our first memory we have of our favorite illiop.
I was told I had a Teddy Ruxpin as a newborn baby, but I didn't have him long enough for me to remember him. The first true memory I have of Teddy is when I was six years old in 1992 or 1993. I went to a school for the blind where the kids live at the school in dorms through the week and are bussed home on Friday and back to school on Sunday. It was probably after Christmas break because she had several toys including 2-XL with her. She played Teddy for me and maybe a few other kids on the bus. I believe she was playing the Airship and I'm pretty sure she also had All About Bears. I can't remember any other tapes she had. From that day on I've loved Teddy, although the fascination has been dormant until recently. I wonder if that girl still has her Teddy or if she still remembers him fondly.

My very first encounter with Teddy Ruxpin was on January 30th, 1990. My mom was in the hospital, about to give birth to my sister, my dad was with her, and my maternal grandparents stayed at our house with me. When they got there, they had a big box for me, inside a Toys R Us bag (I think it was Toys R Us). On the box were pictures of this bear, which I could see inside it, through the display window on the front.
I opened the box, took out the toy, the book and the tape. My grandfather put the tape in the bear and turned it on for me. Next thing I hear is the beginning to the Teddy Ruxpin theme song, and then that voice said, " Hi. My name is Teddy Ruxpin. Can you and I be friends? I really enjoy talking to people". And that was that, I was in love with him.
As time went on, I got more and more of the book and tape sets, as well as the smaller WoW Teddy II. I got "Guests of the Grunges", "Take a Good Look", "Grubby's Romance" and "Tweeg Gets the Tweezles" on VHS in addition to the animatronic movie. My dad taped five of the first six episodes as well as "LB's Wedding" on one tape, then on another he taped "Teddy and the Mudblups", "Win One for the Twipper", "The Mushroom Forest" and "Wooly and the Giant Snowzos" on another.

It feels like Teddy's been there for pretty much my entire life, to the point that I can't clearly remember our first encounter... I believe I would have first seen him either at a branch of Toys 'R' Us (that was the only place that had the display units; The ones here were different to the North American ones, though - they were smaller, had a red base, and I'm told that Teddy was under glass to prevent damage or theft), or in the TV series. Whichever it was, I know that I instantly loved him - as it seems that many fans did! I've told the story of how I got mine before, so I'll spare you all from that. It goes without saying that he's been quite an influence, and I don't want to imagine a life that he was never a part of. He's always been like a friend to me - one who's always been there. There are relatively few characters that I can say this about, and each of them are precious to me.

My first enconter with Teddy Ruxpin when Sears had toy Dept. That where I buy my Teddy Ruxpin. It cost me $100. to get. Toys R Us open about same time when Teddy Ruxpin came out. Then I buy Grubby, then 2 Fobs.

My first encounter with Teddy Ruxpin was in the spring of 1985, when I interviewed for a position at Alchemy II. I worked at "Grundo Electric" (the Alchemy II electronics department) for 2-1/2 amazing years. (G.E. "We bring good things to life.")

That is quite possibly the coolest post in this thread! ;D I really hope you don't mind me asking, but what sorts of things did you do, and work on, while you were there? I've read stories about the things that were made (such as the remote-controlled Johnny Five toys, for Short Circuit 2), but I'd love to know more, if it's ok to ask.
