Hey people, how's everyone doing, I'm semi new (joined back in 2018) but a long time fan of teddy ruxpin. I have my childhood teddy that I won from the children's hospital when I was about 6 months old teddy came to visit and I've got pictures with him as well. A friend gave me a very nice grubby back in 2006 or 2007 but I'm not sure if he works. I have a teddy and grubby I bought off craigslist and repaired myself (teddy for sure but no cord for grubby still.) I recently bought 5 broken teddies and 2 teddy boppers that I'm going to try to repair. I can't possibly keep them all because of the lack of space but I am thinking of adopting them out once I know for sure they're working well. Yesterday I received a generation 1 mother goose and hector with original boxes, 4 tapes, animation cord and the mother goose lullabies outfit (I had to look that one up.) They were sold as broken I haven't tried batteries yet so if they turn out to need repairs (they definitely need cleaned) I'll fix them and they will stay in my collection with my others. What I'd like to do is get better at repairing (cleaner stitching on close up, I'm not great) and be able to buy others to repair and find good homes for. At some point find this illusive grubby connection cord that keeps slipping by me so I can test the two I have and hopefully any others that come my way.

I can't seem to find any videos of hector, I'm going to try batteries in them today and I guess go from there. There are a few good videos on mother goose though and seem to be thorough. Has anyone dealt with striped screws on these toys?

The cord for Grubby is a huge problem for collectors. Most of the eBay listings for him state that the cord is missing. Someone needs to send their cord off for cloning and sell them for a reasonable price 😉
