Perhaps he still had the memory of them in his subconsciousness. It's possible that he saw or heard them in a dream but didn't understand the significance of them. It could be that the seventh crystal only affects the waking portion of the mind, but not the portion dealing with dreams and unconsciousness. It would explain why Burl claimed that he saw bits and pieces of his past in his dreams.
As for the Gutangs, I always assumed they were already living in Ying before conquering the Hard-to-Find City.
Gah! I don't need any more plot bunnies!

That's an interesting take. I always assumed the Illiops fled long before the start of the series, but that's just me. Is the story on your Deviantart? I'd like to read it.

Good points.
Though, I still can't help but wonder how Ilana came to be in possession of the translating plate that allowed everyone to read the Crystal Book. I can see Burl finding the map and medallion, but the translating plate seemed more like a family heirloom, rather than a random discovery.
I still think that it's far too coincidental that Teddy's family, of all the Illiops in Rillonia, eventually came to be in possession of the map, the medallion, and the translating plate.
The next time Josh does an interview with Mr. Forsse, I want him to ask him whether or not he has any idea how many of those evil things he spawned.

We don't know. That's why I created this thread, for discussion.

It was Theodore the Wise that fled with the medallion, not Burl. And I doubt that Burl and Ilana (is it one L or two?) are that old.

EDIT: Hey, look at that! I've almost caught up to you in post count! Very excellent points, and I enjoyed reading them. I like to think the opposite, but then again, I'm a sucker for "chosen one" plots. I've played far too many RPGs. ;D I've actually been trying to chase down a plot bunny regarding this idea. It's based (rather blatently) on the big climax in Lunar: Silver Star Story. It doesn't involve the Pavillion shown in the series, but another similar chamber in the Hard-to-Find City. Gragh! So many plot bunnies, so little time to chase them down. I wonder if Mr. Forsse knows just how many of the little buggers he spawned with Teddy.

After watching "The Mystery Unravels," I was struck with a thought.
According to the Crystal Book, Theodore the Wise was the one who lead the illiops to Rillonia after the Gutangs raided the Hard to Find City, correct? Also, he had Teddy's half of the medallion in his possession when he and the others fled.
Is it possible the Teddy could be a descendent of Theodore the Wise? He did eventually wind up with the medallion half, and Teddy is a very common nickname for people named Theodore.
Or am I just grasping for straws here?

I was lucky enough to find and snatch up a copy of "The Missing Princess" book in Japanese. It finally arrived today. I'm very pleased with that find. Now if I could only find a Japanese tape.

I know that if anyone wanted to sell off any of my Teddy merchandise, they'd have to pry it from my cold, dead hands.

I'm actually rather surprised at how many auctions and sales of these Airship models there are. In fact, there seems to be a lot of rare TR and WoW products on Ebay here recently.
You think that the Teddy's return is causing these people to come out of the woodwork?

I thought that green was the accepted color, but I couldn't be sure. It does make sense that they would be able to change color, since the Rainbow Falls constantly changes color as it flows.
Fuzz is cute though. I especially liked the attitude he was given in "The Third Crystal."
