Before I bought my copy of that tape, I was hoping it would feature the Frank And Nancy Sanatra classic Something Stupid, but of course it doesn't, and I guess I can see the reasons why.

Teddy Ruxpin's Christmas has been available since Day 1 actually Showbiz NC, it's not new. I've purchased all the stories for the new Teddy Ruxpin. I did suggest to WCT that they could have a setting within the app that allows you to select whether you want to hear the full stories or the edited/shortened versions, they haven't implemented that yet as far as I know, but let's hope they will. I understand more stories will be released next year.

I thought you already had a YouTube channel with some Snoopy videos on it.

Regardless if what device you're using to make the recording, be it a computer or a dedicated recording device, if your device has an audio input, use that, don't use the microphone input because you may end up with distorted audio. If the device you're using allows you to select whether you want to use the audio input as an audio/line input or a microphone input, set it to audio/line in, this is if you've connected Teddy Ruxpin to your recording device. If you have connected Teddy Ruxpin to your recording device, be aware that there's a very small possibility that there may be electronic interference in the audio from Teddy Ruxpin's electronic circuitry. You may potentially hear strange noises in the audio when Teddy's eyes and mouth move. Also be aware that the audio codec Teddy Ruxpin uses is very compressed and lossy, you may hear digital artefacts in the recording, such as swirling noises on sibilant sounds and other things like that. Good luck.

The easiest way to record audio from that Teddy Ruxpin is to place your microphone near his speaker and record it acoustically, but you're going to get some unwanted background noise depending on what type of microphone you're using and how sensitive it is. If you want to acoustically record the audio from Teddy, and if you don't mind hearing the noise of the motor grinding away, set your equipment up in a quiet location where background noise such as people talking, vehicles driving by your house, pets, music, and other sources of sound won't be heard If you're comfortable with a screwdriver and a soldering iron, open Teddy up, disconnect the speaker wires and then you may need to splice some wires together if you're using a 3.5 mm audio plug, similar to what headphones use. I don't know what the inside of that Teddy Ruxpin looks like and I don't know if the wires are soldered to the circuit board or whether they plug into a socket on the board. If you're competent with audio recording equipment and you think it's necessary, then you might like to use an attenuation cable to prevent sound distortion if the audio output from Teddy Ruxpin is too loud. I don't know what the impedance or wattage of the internal speaker is, but I suspect the wattage is probably very low, I don't understand the measurement of impedance very well though.

I've often wondered about this too, being vision impaired myself. I suspect there are reasons why they didn't cover blindness, it could just be that they didn't get a chance to write a story like that, maybe it's because different disabilities have different taboos associated with them depending on who you speak to. If Alchemy II/WCT decide in future to write all new stories for Teddy Ruxpin, perhaps this could be a topic to cover in a future story, but of course it's much too early to know whether any new stories with all new content and plots will be developed. Would I like to see a story that deals with blindness? Well, yes, I would.

Yes, you can play the 3 default stories without pairing Teddy Ruxpin with the app first, they play just fine.

I have received my Teddy Ruxpin now, I do like it, quite a lot, but there are some things I'm not too keen on. Probably my biggest complaint is the audio editing and production was a little rough, I'm hoping that they can clean the audio up at some point and address some of the roughness. I think one of the reasons for the crackles and slight dropouts in the audio is due to synchronisation with the text and virtual pages in the app. DollyPrince, actually I don't believe it's possible to fully use Teddy Ruxpin with a computer at this time. I understand that the micro USB port is for downloading new stories and possibly updates if and when they should be made available. You do not always need to use a smartphone or tablet with Teddy Ruxpin, but you do need to use one to buy the stories not already unlocked, you also need a smartphone or tablet to read the story text and follow along and look at the artwork. Once you've purchased the stories you want, you can just listen to them on Teddy Ruxpin without using your smartphone/tablet. Another thing I've noticed is that it can be a little tricky at first to get Teddy Ruxpin to sit up on a desk or table, he can be easily knocked over, and if you don't sit him up just so, he'll tilt and topple over. I do like the LCD eyes actually, they don't bother me at all, I can understand why some people don't like them, and I think it would have been nice if, like the Baby So Real doll, Teddy Ruxpin had eyelids that closed over his eyes when you turn him off. Over all I do like Teddy Ruxpin and I'm glad I got one.

It's interesting that this old post has just been updated this week because I just bought these cassettes on eBay the other day, but I haven't received them yet. I'm really looking forward to getting them.

I agree that the Target version is better value for money than the other versions. I understand the stories are about $5 each, I don't know how much the stories for the previous versions were to buy, but I have a feeling they may have been slightly more expensive.

I've not heard anyone else say anything about that, are the scratches serious? Probably just a manufacturing defect. Unfortunate, but these things do happen from time to time.

It was me who noticed the volume difference, I guess WCT remastered the original recordings. Regarding the song cuts, I too am a little disappointed. I offered WCT a suggestion about that issue. I suggested that they could implement a system of reading levels. Perhaps they could have a reading level for very young children in which the stories/songs are slightly shorter as WCT have done, then a reading level for older children and legacy Teddy Ruxpin fans in which the stories and songs are their original lengths. Regarding the introduction, the reason why they cut it out is because when you turn Teddy Ruxpin on, he introduces himself, so, I suppose WCT thought the introduction at the beginning of the story wasn't necessary. There were some Teddy Ruxpin tapes that were not recorded for the original toy, they were produced for play on regular cassette recorders, I'll need to watch IlliopOctopede's videos again, but I think they might be using the cassettes that weren't designed for the toy.

Teddy does indeed sing "Let's watch the ground so far below, let's watch the clouds as they fly by", you probably just misheard what he sung. Probably my favourite Teddy Ruxpin song is Will You Go To Sleep Before I do.

Yes, I'd definitely prefer a working one. I am excited for the new one because I will actually get to hear the stories told by Teddy, instead of from only youtube videos. I think it's neat though when people do videos where you can hear Teddy's motors moving, it's more like he's actually there. Just so you know, I'm a girl. No problems. I don't know whether you've seen my YouTube videos about Teddy Ruxpin or not, I've done several of them, I haven't done any Teddy Ruxpin videos recently. And yes, I would have assumed you'd prefer to have a Teddy Ruxpin that works.
