Okay, I'm glad Quellor was ranked one of the greatest villains of all time, but the article goes on to trash talk Teddy himself, and I can't stand for that! lol...still, it's nice to see Quellor get some PR. He is still in my book one of the greatest...right up there with Darth Vader.

There is a movement of fans who were around my age (25 currently) when the series was on who grew up to have their outlook on life jaded a bit. I forgive the author of this article for that as at least if he is recognizing villains he recognizes a good one. Quellor was actually more of the TV series people's idea rather than AlchemyII, but I still think the formula made things a bit more interesting for the TV series. With that being said, I don't think there is as much room for Quellor if the series continues as Teddy will have more things to do not completely related to the crystals. MAVO will always want to have them, though.

You know, they could've made Quellor much more terrifying than he already was.
He had a habit of using his Black Box on people that he captured, leaving them as an essentially blank slate. Imagine that, instead of selling them to the Ying Zoo, he took the time to "reeducate" them and turn them to the side of evil. The Black Box would be a perfect tool for brainwashing.
Think of how that might have really messed things up between Teddy and his father if Quellor did that.

Interesting thoughts, Kayla. It certainly would have made things a bit more adventurous, Teddy finding his father to be a brainwashed zombie fighting for MAVO. Although for the targeted demographic it may have been a little too much.
I always wondered why the black box made "Tweeg the Vegetable" with basically no ability to care for himself, while Burl was able to maintain quite an extensive existance and maintained all his faculties, just had no clue as to where he had come from. There are a lot of questions about the black box that I think could be answered in a future series that would be quite fun to watch.

Yeah, it wouldn't have fit the demographic of the time.
It could be the fact that it wasn't Quellor himself who zapped Tweeg. After all, Tweeg had absolutely no knowledge of how to use the Black Box, whereas Quellor's been using it for who knows how long.
Of course, there's also the idea that Tweeg didn't have the same survival skills that Burl had. Burl was used to surviving in the wild and definitely had him beat in that regard. Don't get me wrong, I love Tweeg as much as anyone, but he wasn't exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer to begin with. Take away what he had...

I was talking to my brother in-law about Teddy, giving him an overview of the story, and he asked the same question when I told him about the Black Box and it's respective effects on Burl and Tweeg. My only explanation is that Illiops are stronger creatures (as far as fortitude and mental capacity). Also, you can count the fact (or at least we can assume) that the Crystals were made by the Illiops, so they're probably less prone to the effects thereof. Just some ideas. I would love to get Mr. Forsse's opinion on this...although I don't know how much input he had at that point in the series.
