Ok, so I took teddy apart to look at the cassette belt condition. (He keeps eating my tapes. That started after I installed a new pinch roller). I've tried to put him back together. I screwed up big time. Does anyone know who I could contact or send Teddy to for repair? I thought about Dr. Eeyore, but he hasn't been online in a couple years now. I'm in desperate need of help. I just got him yesterday!

What did you do wrong? Perhaps we can help you repair him again.

Okay. So basically, he won't turn on. He used to. The batteries I just put in were brand new. Nothing happens when I turn him on. I checked the logic board and everything is connected. vid.me/AsaHDoes anyone know if Dr. Eeyore is still around? I've heard really good things about him.

Why would you disassemble him? Just because he eats your tapes, doesn't mean you should take it apart. Aaanyway... Best thing I could assume is that the contacts for his batteries aren't working. Something like that...

WAIT! That volume wheel looks really sunken in- maybe it's snapped or it was messed up after you took it apart?

Yeah. The tape player part is still unscrewed. That's why it looks like that. I just haven't had time to screw it back in.
I've been thinking. Could I buy a broken teddy ruxpin for parts or repair, and then take the cassette player out of that one and switch it? Do you think that would work? I have the original 1985 wow metal tape version.

Oh god. I was cleaning him earlier and I noticed orange specks of something on his vest and all over him. Is it mold?

Not sure about the orange specks.. But is it possible for you to snap the back on and screw it back on? I replaced the face frame and cleaned the fur on one of my Teddies recently and he wouldn't turn on until I screwed the back on. Tell me if that helps, I'm not a teddy expert whatsoever so I apologize if that isn't the case for you.

Also, Dr. Eeyore only does adoptions/restorations/repairs in June, July, and August I think. That's all I know, I've never sent mine off for repairs so I'm not sure about how good they are, but I have heard very good things about them.

Thank you guys so much for the help. But I just eventually threw him away. I googled what the orange spots were. They were mold spores. It was pretty nasty. I did however keep the board and the tape player. This sucker had a pretty good life. Although he eats tapes.

Thats understandable. Maybe if you can fix the tape eating problem, he can still live on in other Teddies!

You threw him away?!?! How stupid and terrible! This is a vintage toy, and you just threw it to the landfill!!
You know, they won't work when they are not screwed together.
Mould can be removed with hydrogen peroxide. I cleaned very badly mouldy toys this way. Sell your broken toys for cheap on eBay, someone like me who has been restoring toys for years may buy them. What a waste, and bad for the environment. Shame!

I haven't completely thrown him away yet. I just threw his vest away. I still have the tape player and the bear itself. Currently, he is soaked with Lysol. The reason I've been freaking out is that some of the Lysol went on my carpet. So now I have pink rings around my carpet. I have to get a brand new carpet.

Did you remove the fur before soaking it in Lysol? If not, remove it right away so the innards won't be damaged. There are also methods and products online that can help remove stains so you won't necessarily have to get a new carpet!
