Hi,
I just remembered something in that book that confused me. MAVO is mentioned in the book, so I highly doubt it was not fleshed out for the television show. I thought MAVO was added later - but the book suggests it wasn't.

I recently got the set on eBay, but my Teddy, sadly, no longer works (thinking of getting him repaired...) so I don't know about the reference, but if there is a reference to M.A.V.O., that would assume it was in fact established long before the TV series took shape.
Very interesting. I always wondered how they could have a tape and book set called "The Third Crystal", since no mention of the Crystals is made in "The Missing Princess".

MAVO was part of the storyline before the TV Show.... It was meant to be more of a gathering of Tweeg types than what it became later in the TV show.... Quellor however was added for the TV show.

Well, thanks, Josh for your explanation. Now that I think about it, The Adventure Series does mention many of the plots for show - first, second, and third crystals, Grubby's Romance, etc., but it focused primarily on "moral of the story" type themes.
I personally, like the way MAVO became. In their arrogance, They still miss Teddy Ruxpin... and that makes it fun.

The Adventure Series mentions a lot of storylines that never made it into the series, and vice versa. The Woggleys, for instance, are mentioned in the books, but to my knowledge, the only appearance they make in the series is in "Wooly and the Giant Snowzos" (also a book and tape set). The "Lost in Boggley Woods" storyline is never explored in the series, though mention is made to Boggley Woods.
Also, the Adventure Series does show M.A.V.O. and Ying on the map in the back. The Land of Grundo Play Area map expands on it by including such landmarks as "Tweeg's Mom"'s house, Leota's tree, Trembly Fault, and other landmarks that are either not present, or not labeled on the map in the back of the books.
What a great depth it gives to Grundo and to Teddy's stories! I could lose myself in them.

Not to mention the sheer number of plot bunnies it spawns.

Plot bunnies are evil to an overly creative mind. *gets out shotgun* Anyone for rabbit stew?

I hope no one minds too much me bumping up an old thread. but I was just going through the forum archives to learn a bit of the forum's history and background, and to see what other interesting conversations there had been in the past, and I had a question. Eleanor's house is on the map, but is she at all mentioned in the adventure series?

She is mentioned in "Tweeg and the Bounders", though she's only mentioned as Tweeg's mom, and isn't given a name. Her house is only shown on the Grundo map playmat. Which brings me to a question of my own. Did the playmat come out before or after the tv series aired? It gives much better details on all of the locations in the series, than the book maps did. For instance, M.A.V.O. Headquarters. It looks the same on the playmat as it does in the series. And, as it was mentioned, Eleanore's house is shown on the playmat, along with the school tree, and the Grunge village.
