I'm unsure if this should be here or in the fanfic forum, so please move it if it's in the wrong place.
I'm considering taking part in NaNoWriMo this year, provided I can pull together a long enough outline that I can wring 50000 words out of. I've had a Teddy Ruxpin fic bouncing around my head for a while, so I thought I would use that if I did participate. I've just got a couple questions concerning it.
1) How far is too far into the future for a Teddy fic to take place? I plan to set it around maybe ten years later from the end of the series.
2) How could I deal with songs? I'd like to have some characters sing, partially as an homage to the books and series and also because it'll bump up the word count, but I'm unsure if I should just stick with songs used in the series or if I could also use non-Teddy songs like Teddy Ruxpin Christmas and Teddy Sings Love Songs did.
3) Thought of another one. Is 'Octopede' the generally accepted last name for Grubby? I find it rather interesting that the Ruxpin family, the Tweeg family, and Gimmick are the only characters who apparently have last names.
Any thoughts are appreciated.

1: Ten years later doesn't sound unreasonable at all to me. 2: Perhaps you could work singing into regular speech somehow, as opposed to framing songs like setpieces as in audio and audiovisual media? After all, it's not really possible to do that in traditional prose, as far as I know. Anyway, what I mean is, to give an example, perhaps someone could walk in on another character who's singing to themselves. It's the only way I can really think of! 3: I always got the impression that Octopedes don't tend to use surnames, myself! This one's almost certainly down to individual interpretation, by my reckoning. At the very least, I've never heard of there being any general consensus (or even debate) about it...

Yeah, I wasn't planning on doing anything like my "One Boy, One Girl" drabble. If there's any songs, they're going to actually be sung by the characters, similar to how they were in the books and series.
That's a great idea! So then I just call them Lord Grubby and Lady Xena, since our favorite trio are ruling the Hard to Find City at the time it takes place.
I wonder if Nogburt's kingdom would have anything similar to Westminster Abbey.
Now if I could just come up with some more subplots to pad out the story...
