Hi, I joined a few weeks back, so I guess I should properly introduce myself. I'm a long time fan & collector of 80's toys. My main collection is My Little Pony & I've been an active part of that collecting community since the late 90's.
I've recently come to the point in life where I need to let go of some of the (many, many, many) things I've kept from childhood or picked up along the way. When I pulled my old Teddy Ruxpin out of storage, I could not help but remember how much I loved this magical toy. There was no way that I could send him off to a new home with a random stranger from ebay. The last time I heard him tell his stories was probably about 20 years ago, and sadly, when I put the batteries in he did absolutely nothing. I started to search online to see if it was possible to fix him, or if he was a lost cause. After finding several extremely helpful resources, my original Teddy is on the road to recovery! I'm hoping that he will soon be ready to be loved by my son, just as much as I loved him when I was little.
I've spent the last 10+ years working in the audio/video field, and before that I went to school for textile design. I would be lying if I said that Teddy Ruxpin has not influenced my career path a bit. I always dreamed of making animatronics or designing toys, in general, although neither of those really panned out for me.
I will likely be more of a lurker here at the Teddy forum, but thank you for those wonderful interviews on the main site! It was really amazing to learn about the background of Teddy & all those involved in his creation & life story.
