Ahh, I see. I'm an early 80s one, myself, so I got a bit more of the 80s into the bargain than yourself. That was back when there was still a UK animation industry of which to speak, too - there's a whole lot of stuff I miss that's highly unlikely to come back, now, because it's more-or-less totally gone these days. I suppose those count as more examples of fandoms in similar situations to Teddy's!

Well, at least we're all in good company here on the good ship USS (or HMS as the case may be in the UK) Itty Bitty Fandom.

Hahaha... Why am I suddenly reminded of the Genie from Disney's Aladdin, there?

I agree that Hasbro would be the best one to revive Teddy. Look at the success they've had with Transformers since...well...since just about the same time that Teddy Ruxpin first came out.

Exactly. And, really, can you imagine anyone else being able to market him effectively enough? They've got the "X" factor, as far as that goes, I think.

Now, in terms of a studio to produce a movie or a new animated series, who would be the best to handle it? Disney, Dreamworks, Blue Sky, or Pixar for a movie? Disney, Nelvana, Cookie Jar, Fox Animation, or another one for a series? Personally, I think if we're going with a traditional animated movie for Teddy, I would have to go with Disney, because they have the most resources available to produce an animated movie in the traditional, hand drawn style, since Don Bluth Productions has been closed down since 1995, though, the studio he heads for Fox would probably do a good one too.

I think Disney could do it the most justice. Especially since musical numbers play such a big role, and Disney has decades of experience with that.
Can you imagine 'Come Dream With Me Tonight' with the orchestration of a song like 'A Whole New World' or 'Part of Your World'?

Yeah, but only if Howard Ashman was still alive, and it was he and Alan Menken in charge of the film's production. Lol. Seriously though, you are right. Disney has 70 odd years of experience with animated musicals, and as I said, they have the most/best resources to make a Teddy Ruxpin movie that does justice to Ken Forsse's original creation.

Not to mention, it'd almost be like Teddy was coming home. His creator was, after all, an Imagineer.

It may be ok, as long as they didn't treat it as a vehicle to hawking annoying child-stars, as they have done when, for example, dubbing other people's properties... That would be my only concern, there. (The Disney-handled dub of Studio Ghibli's Ponyo, which featured that girl with the boy's name, who is Miley Cyrus' sister, just because they were trying to promote Miley Cyrus at the time, springs to mind... Let's not even go into that absolutely terrible, mind-hurtingly bad song that's played over the credits.) But yes, of anybody, Disney would certainly be the right choice, as long as they didn't do something like that. (I do miss when they used raw talent in their movies, instead of trying to use them as celebrity-vehicles!)

Very much agreed. Keep the Selena Gomezes and the Miley Cyruses far away from Teddy.

Personally, I think Ken Forsse would not allow Disney to put people like Selena Gomez or Miley Cyrus in Teddy Ruxpin. But, yes, I agree with you, that the Disney pop stars need to kept away from our Illiop friend.

For some reason, that causes an amusing mental image... ... Right alongside a horrible mental image of the Jonas Brothers and various now-forgotten Disney pop "stars", being thrown in as the Grunges. Ugh.
