Well I just thought I'd mention this for anyone who is interested. If you see a VHS tape called Teddy Ruxpin: The Movie (1999 Hit! entertainment) it's a scam and a rip off. I own it and all it is is the first 5 episodes of the cartoon show put together! How stupid! Teddy Ruxpin: The Movie?! my illiop a**! It's just the first 6 episodes put together from the cartoon?! Another Teddy Ruxpin fan called BlueOctopede made a video of it on YouTube. I mean we both honestly thought it was gonna be an all new movie but its not! It's stupid an its false advertising

I remember the first time I watched it as a kid with my grandmother and she was like wait??... Isn't this the TV show again? And I was like ya! Lol we were not pleased when we watched the whole movie and found out it was the same thing. That's for sure!

Sorry to hear you were disappointed, but, we all knew that the so-called movie, was just the first five episodes edited together into a feature. And, it's also been mentioned a few times here too. They did that a few times with old cartoons, where they'd edit a few episodes together and release them on VHS, with the title, "such and such - The Movie". Usually because those however many episodes are feature-length.

Sorry to hear you thought "The Movie" was something different. At the time it was released, in 1999 I believe, we were all pretty excited about it as we thought it would be a good way to introduce the series to a new generation. Unfortunately they didn't do a great job of marketing it. I don't plug it at all on the website as it's been out of print forever anyway, but I will consider making a page on it now that I've heard your concerns, in hopes that doesn't happen to others.
On a positive note, I thought the cover artwork for it was spectacular.

Oh ok. But ya the main reason we were upset though is it says "Based on the TV series". However it is the TV series. That's false advertising. But oh well. I guess it's nice to have for a collector's item

I remember when this was first listed on Amazon.com back in the day. I, too, was unsure exactly what the VHS consisted of until I checked with Josh and he confirmed it was the series pilot arc. Sorry to hear about your confusion and perhaps being misled by a few carefully chosen words on the cover.
I will agree that the box art is probably the best Teddy box art of any home video release ever, with the runner-up being the newest DVD set. It's one of the few items I haven't scooped up yet, though I have seen several of them on eBay as recent as yesterday. It is still a nice collector's item.

There was a live action movie released on TV before the cartoon came out. That VHS is very rare, and quite hard to find. You might find it on Ebay, but if not it was on You Tube. Here is the link to the You Tube upload: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfA4aGJHF4MOriginally, this was how Ken Forsse wanted to do all the episodes of the TV show, but the cost became too high so Animation was the fall back. I think both mediums have their pros and cons. I love this because of the attention to details, costumes, and sets were fantastic. I can definately see the influence of Ken's work at Disney as an Imagineer in this, I hope you will too.

I actually own that VHS tape lol. Never knew it was so rare. Will have to digitize it to DVD sometimes then. Whenever I have kids if love my kids to grow up with Teddy Ruxpin. I'd sure they'd love him & all his friends in The Land of Grundo as much as I did and still do

I'm not sure... I think someone converting the trailer movie to DVD would be a good idea simply because over time the VHS tape will degrade and lose quality. It would be nice to have it as a digital copy.
