Hi, I'm MechBeast. I'm a fan and collector of animatronic toys. I did not have a Teddy Ruxpin growing up. I desperately wanted one but my folks couldn't afford it. I am fascinated by the art of animatronics. As a kid I was interested in film special effects. I wanted to grow up and make monsters for a living. By the time Teddy came out I was probably too old for him at ten but I loved the technology behind it! It was the most lifelike toy I'd ever seen! It was more like a living creature than a toy. I used to have an original Teddy Ruxpin and a Baby Teddy Ruxpin. But I sold them along with a lot of my other animatronic critters five or six years ago. I thought I was done collecting, but apparently I wasn't because I'm currently rebuilding the collection. No Teddies at the moment though. You can only get them online and I don't order online anymore. So most of my free cash goes to the new Furbys and the occasional FurReal Friend. I love Furbys as much as I do Teddy Ruxpin.
So that's pretty much my story. I just wanted to drop in and introduce myself before I started posting.

Hi MechBeast - nice to meet you. ;D It's always good to see new folks here, especially since it's more proof that Teddy Ruxpin is anything but forgotten! What you say about Teddy being life-like is one of the things that I've always found so appealing about him, to be honest; Except for, in my opinion, the 2006 model, he doesn't look like a toy - he looks like a living creature. Since you don't order things online anymore, that's all the more reason to keep hoping for another revival at retail, methinks. Here's hoping! Welcome, again. I'm sure you'll have a good time here, as a shared interest in animatronic toys (primarily Teddy, since he was the trailblazer, but there are certainly discussions about others) is one of the key things about this community.
