The article struck me as a bit "spin"-like, but one of the comments on it, purporting to be from Ken Forsse himself, caught my eye;
Can anyone verify that this comment is really Ken Forsse's?
EDIT: Fixed reply title.

Yes, Cyborg, I can confirm that was a response from Mr. Forsse.
I edited the original post from TeddySonicFan slightly as well as the headline to make it "G".
Mr. Forsse, as you can see in his response, was blindsided by a cold call from the TMZ "organization" and did not actually say anything negative about the film. I will let his response speak for itself.

Yes, Cyborg, I can confirm that was a response from Mr. Forsse. Thanks Josh. I suspected that it would be a genuine response - the report really didn't sound like anything I could have imagined him saying, going on the interviews that you've got on the TRO website and suchlike. Also, I noticed that the title of my previous reply still had the old thread title in it, so I've just edited that to match the new name.

Wow, I really need to see this movie. The only thing is that I sort of feel the same way about teddy bears as was mentioned in this article. I can't picture a teddy bear doing the things Ted does. I want to see it really bad, but I'm also afraid I'm gonna have to take a big bottle of brain bleach with me.

My sense of humor isn't easily shocked and I have a wide range of interests, including entertainment - but Ted crosses some lines I just don't think are necessary. It fits some people's sense of humor and irony, and that's fine for them, but it isn't for me and I don't plan to ever see the film. The actual mention of Teddy Ruxpin's name I wish they had left out though. There is going to be very little of the 'TED' audience who doesn't already remember Teddy who remembers the name long enough to get home and google it. My web stats have not increased significantly from either the TED movie nor the HORRIBLE "Paranormal Activity 3" which came out this fall and exploited TR as well. If I could do it all over again and could switch movies, I'd gladly watch TED instead of The Paranormal Activity 3. I'd rather be slightly offended than bored.

What is this Paranormal Activity and what did it have to do with Teddy?

Paranormal Activity is a horror movie series. My understanding is that the third installment is set in the 1980s, and includes a possessed Teddy Ruxpin. I assume that this might have been inspired by some of the myths spawned from what can apparently happen if a Teddy I has an electrical fault, as this can cause them to randomly power on by themselves, which I gather has scared some people over time. I don't know for sure if this is why they featured him, though - I'm not really a fan of horror movies. EDIT: Bizarrely, the people behind the film claim that Teddy Ruxpin can record onto tapes...

Apparently I'm one of those people who can't resist watching a train wreck because I'm in the process of downloading this horror flick from a web site where blind people can get movies as audio files with description. I'll come back and snark on it if you guys would like me to after I watch it. Oh, and since when does Teddy record? I don't know what bear they had, but I think if my Teddy could record I would have been having him record me. I'm obsessed with recording stuff.

I've done some thorough observation on internet discussions related to the movie 'TED' and Teddy Ruxpin is noticeably absent from almost all of them. Even on Twitter, the keywords 'Teddy Ruxpin' aren't appreciably more popular than an average time when the name isn't being dropped in what will probably become a $100 million dollar movie. It kind of proves to me that all publicity isn't necessarily good publicity. A name drop in a popular film could be a great reference for Teddy if it was the right kind of film - but Ted's viewers are mainly going to be two types of folks - ones that have already long known about Teddy Ruxpin, and ones with too short of an attention span to even recall the scene he's named in or the name itself by the time they get near Google. My ex-girlfriend wants to go see Ted this weekend. We're talking about getting rid of the 'ex' so I guess I will be game and go. I hope it doesn't step all over the innocent joy of my childhood. It's got to be better than Paranormal Activity 3 was, on the bright side

My brother saw 'TED' on Wednesday and he said it was a good movie. But, like any movie, there are people who love a particular movie and those who don't. And not every movie is to everyone's tastes either.

I generally like Seth McFarlane. I enjoy "Family Guy," but the last few seasons have been focused more on shock value than clever humor. "Ted" seems to be of the latter variety, which is mainly what turns me off to the film.
I actually think it'd be funnier if Ted has more of a cute voice than a Peter/Brian voice.
As for the Teddy Ruxpin reference, I'm not offended at all. I think it's a cute reference that the audience will get, and I doubt anyone could make a movie about a talking bear without dropping the name.
It's not the first time Teddy has been associated with some less than wholesome characters.
In Eminem's song, "Insane" off his 2009 "Relapse" album, Teddy is referenced in a song that depicts domestic violence among other things.
"Can't we just play with Teddy Ruxpin instead?"
I actually enjoy Eminem's music for the most part (in proper context), and found myself going, "Cool, a Teddy reference!"
The most frustrating part of this entire fiasco is the number of people completely ignoring Mr. Forsse's response to this article and making degrading remarks about him or Teddy because of the manner in which TMZ misrepresented Mr. Forsse in their article.
But then again, it IS TMZ, and given the demographic that tends to gravitate towards their brand of "news", I can't say I hold TMZ's opinion, or the opinion of their audience, in high esteem.
Or any esteem.
I think we all have better things to do.
