Does anybody know if the upcoming re-release of the cartoon will come with an option for Descriptive Video Service? I can't paste the link from Wikipedia because my computer is being stupid, but basically it's a secondary audio track with a person describing the action on the screen. Anytime something happens that is visual, the other voice describes what is happening. We used to have to order movies with DVS from the Library for the Blind and go through a lot of paperwork to get access to them, but thankfully they're starting to release DVD's with that option already available. They don't automatically start describing. You have to pull up that option on a menu, which is sort of counterproductive since that part doesn't talk to you to let you know where you're at, but it's really cool because it allows us to watch movies and TV shows and get the whole picture because a lot of what happens in TV is visual and we usually have to miss that part when we watch TV the regular way. Josh, if you are able to talk to TPTB, do you think you could suggest DVS to them? Thanks.

This sounds like a fantastic option for visually impaired people. My Grandpa is visually impaired and I bet he'd enjoy something like this as well on programs he enjoys. Unfortunately I would doubt this was added to this release. It is definitely something I will run by the powers that be if I ever hear of a new release.

I thought they were releasing it in June. Is that still happening or do I need to try to find the 2006 version? Thankfully the series has a lot of dialogue more than other cartoons, so I can pretty much follow what's going on. Don't shoot me, but I've been watching the series on youtube until I can get the DVD's. I plan to purchase the new series as soon as it comes out, but I just wanted to see what the series is like because I never got to see it when I was a kid and also I wanted to see it so I will understand what is being discussed here because a lot of the discussion focuses on the TV series. I never saw the series or heard very much of the tapes as a kid, I just saw the bear and wanted him. I probably would have loved to watch it. I always hated cartoons because they didn't have a lot of dialogue and if you couldn't see, you basically listened to the music, but I like that TR has talking almost continuously so I can follow.
