This is just something that popped into my head a few days ago, after the matter of selling Teddy Ruxpin audio on MP3 download services came up in another thread. I was reminded to post about it because I've had some background music from both the book-and-tape series and the TV series stuck in my head all day. Whilst the book-and-tape series didn't seem to have constant background music (it had some, but there was sometimes use of dramatic silence), the TV series almost always had it. If the songs from the series are ever sold via services like Amazon MP3, iTunes, or similar, will the TV series' (and, for that matter, the book-and-tape series') background instrumentals be made available, too? I'd love this, as there are quite a lot of good tunes!

I doubt it still exists in any other form than on video now - although it could be harvested easily enough. George Wilkins was the composer of all of it and may still have it stored. George is one I've never been in contact with but hope to someday. The stories wouldn't have been quite the same without his musical influence. Along with Mr. Forsse, they are definitely the Simon & Garfunkle, Lennon & McCartney, etc. of children's entertainment tunes.
A 'Teddy Ruxpin soundtrack' would be a cool release... with bits and pieces of background music and characters talking as well as full fledged songs.

I'd love a full version of the instrumental version of 'Come Dream with Me Tonight' that played over the credits.

That'd be cool. They should have a Teddy Ruxpin soundtrack like that. After all they've done it with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Sailor Moon, and The Dukes of Hazzard, so why not for Teddy Ruxpin. If they ever do release something like that, I hope they have that piece of background music from the tv show that plays in scenes like where the Trio starts exploring their surroundings after Gimmick shrinks them with the reducing machine in "Take a Good Look", when Grubby enters the Grunge hut, with his Roasted Root Gumbo in "Guests of the Grunges" and when the Trio enters the dance hall for the annual spring dance in "Grubby's Romance" right before "Looking Back at Me" plays.

I get a kick out of the snarkiness of the music when Tweeg reads the letter from his mom. They play this version of the Brahms Lullaby in 4/4 time rather than the usual 3/4. I cracked up. *Sorry for the music geekiness*.

For the book and tape series they always chose the best background music for certain scenes. However, the one thing I did notice that, like other tv shows, cartoons especially, they used the same pieces of background music for each episode. Sometimes the same piece twice in the same episode.
Oh sure, some characters had their own background music, like Wooly and Quellor, and some of the background music, ended up being instrumental versions of songs from the Adventure Series, that ended up not being used as songs in the show itself, but they constantly used the same score over and over again. Whereas with the Adventure Series tape, if they had background music at all, they used a different score for each tape.
I also noticed that certain songs are played in multiple episodes. Like "Let's Sail Away Today" which came from the story, "Teddy Ruxpin's Birthday", was sung in "Captured", "Teddy's Birthday" and at least one more episode, and the song, "Gimmick", appeared in "The Crystal Book", and "Gizmos and Gadgets". Those are the only two examples I can think of, where a song was used in more than one episode. There could be more though.
