I wonder why Grubby was never re-introduced after WOW created him. One of my primary joys was seeing the pair sing together when they were connected. Any way to create a Grubby that is less delicate?

Playskool probably didn't manufacture Grubby because they had decided to limit the overall production of the line. At that time, Teddy had a lot of exposure and the talkers were all still fairly new.... WoW had pretty much created new toys to the point that the production costs bankrupted the company so Playskool, from what I would assume anyway, probably decided to just do bare bones... afterall, casual fans would still be happy just having Teddy and die hards will still buy as what other choice do they have?
Yes! of course didn't manufacture Grubby either... and in my opinion shouldn't have manufactured Teddy for that matter.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a new version of Grubby popup from BackPack, who seem to be doing things the right way with the property. With Teddy getting smaller Grubby would most likely be smaller as well... not sure if he'd look all that great too small though especially if size ratio between he & Teddy weren't maintained.
As cool as a talking Grubby would be... I'd most like to see some of the other accessories come back, like the airship and the poseable figures. The hand puppets would be cool too... This is much less of a business risk for the manufacturers and would help keep Teddy's name out there with different kinds of merchandise.
But what I hope for the most is another television, theatrical or even straight to video Teddy Ruxpin storyline... continuing on the story a bit from the TV series and a bit from the Adventure series. I think this would give Teddy the most exposure.

I've wondered this as well. I'm sure it has to do with cost and the market. I'd love to see a talking Grubby from Backpack. Though I agree with Josh that the scale needs to be done right. Teddy would look pretty silly sitting next to a tiny grubby!
Personally, I always wanted to see a Gimick talker in the old WOW line. It seems almost all the other major characters at the very least had a hand puppet, but there was no Gimmick.
Speaking of Gimmick, I seem to vaguely remember seeing a prototype photo of him in one of the old product brocures. Of course that was ages ago, and my memory could be way off. Does anybody remember seeing that or am I wrong?

The Gimmick talker never existed, but there was a prototype created to kind of push the entire line. Last I heard, the Gimmick talker idea was dropped and, as most prototypes, his design was destroyed in its entirety. I'd like to see if BackPack designs one.

According to the Teddy Ruxpin FAQ, not only were there prototypes of a Gimmick talker, but also ones for Prince Arin, Princess Aruzia, Wooly, and Tweeg. There was also a female illiop planned named Amber.

I'm curious how the prototypes looked.

I'm doing a deep search of the net right now for the pics. I'll post if I find.

I think that the Teddy Ruxpin FAQ had an image of the Amber prototype at one point, but it seems to have been taken down.

I do believe there were picks of Amber on the TR FAQ. I remember seeing pics of her somewhere, but they always wielded me out because it was, at least in prototype, basically a Teddy doll with longer hair and (if I recall properly) eyelashes. I don't remember what they had her dressed in.
I wonder if WOW had any plans for some sort of "hub" that all these talkers would plug into so that they could interact together. I mean, if they were planning on a Teddy, Grubby, Gimmick, Amber, and Tweeg, I assume the idea would be that all these characters would interact in the same stories. The only trouble is, Amber never made any appearances in the show or in the books, so it would've been hard to introduce her to kids already familiar with Teddy's universe.
I personally would've loved to see Gimmick and Tweeg. Prince Arin and Princess Aruzia really weren't in enough stories to warrant talkers of their own, in my opinion. An L.B. talker would've been difficult because the mouth would've been HUGE. I like him in puppet form, though, along with the Fobs.
It saddens me to think how much WOW had planned and where Teddy might be today if they had met better financial success. Nevertheless, and I am very grateful for what Mr. Forsse and the folks at Alchemy II gave us.

I'd love to have images of the prototypes, they were not destroyed, were they?
