I'm just kind of curious. What happens when you play the B side of Teddy Ruxpin tapes? Are there two stories on each side or does it do what 2-XL does, which is to start playing backwards? There's nothing creepier than going through your old tapes, finding a 2-XL tape, not realizing it, and popping it in on the wrong side *shudder*. Also, if you played Teddy's tapes in a regular mono tape player, would you still hear the weird sounds of the animation?

On a WoW Teddy, it's the same story on the other side. Very efficient because that Teddy had no ability to rewind. I used to use it as a way to hear songs again and again. Just flip the tape after the song and usually the other side would be near a song too. (At some point, I figured out there were two songs per tape on average, one near the beginning and one near the end.)
Yeah, you'd hear the strange buzzing. That also used to fascinate me as a kid. I wanted to know how that told Teddy what to do.

Yeah. That's how I would listen to the stories on my Teddy Ruxpin. I'd listen to one side, then the next time I wanted to hear that story I'd put it on, on the other side of the tape.

Oh cool. I had a few tapes that came with books and you were supposed to read along with them. They had the same story on both sides. I don't know if they were made for a tape player toy or if they were just plain ol' tapes, but they got played in regular players or 2-XL or whatever tape player I had access to.

Well, that's how Teddy Ruxpin operated. I had a tape recorder/player from Playskool called the Talk 'n Play, and there were special books, that depending on what coloured button you pushed (red, green, yellow, or blue), it would make the story go a different way. The Teddy Ruxpin tapes also played in it.

I had one of those, too. I really want to see a youtube vid of someone playing with one.

Mine was given away by my parents. Which is really funny, since they never gave away my Teddy Ruxpins or book and tape sets.

My Talk N' Play started playing everything backwards, so Mom tossed it and got me a new tape player that didn't do that.
