That's not the only thing I'm noticing!
Look at this, from the end of the synopsis!
This can't be referring to the BackPack Toys version, can it? I mean, BackPack's version went out of production in 2010...
If this is the set that Josh mentioned was meant to be out before Christmas 2011, could this be why it was delayed?
Josh, have you been holding out on us?! ;D

We know that Backpack Toys Inc. isn't making Teddy Ruxpin toy.

Holy...ten DVDs. The set I have only has six.
What on Earth did they dig up that took DVDs?

Perhaps the episodes are better-quality? (Meaning, less episodes per disc.) The box-art doesn't indicate any extras, and nor does the synopsis, so that's my best guess.

This version has been in the works for some time. That synopsis was probably written by someone not up to date on Teddy the toy's status. It is still "available" technically - a couple of online retailers are charging around $200 for it Yours truly wrote the series synopsis for the release - presumably in some sort of a insert or booklet. If they used it. A little bit of what I wrote made it into the Amazon.com "review" that the distributor obviously put up themselves. Yes - the increase in the number of discs will mean better quality. It should be noticeable.

Thanks Cyborg I'm hoping they used it and my name will make it onto a Teddy Ruxpin product. That will be a surreal kind of day should it happen I'm hoping for Teddy V too!

Yeah i am too. If a new ine comes out i wanna get him right on the release date. Teddy Ruxpin rocks! But i sure do hope if they make a new version i hope they improve the audio quality cause the backback toys audio quality was horrible and sounded like a very low mp3 file so yeah hope if a new teddy comes out the sound will be better and will have more stories than backpack toys and maybe even grubby, answer box, picture show,or video pack. And im hoping he would come with the airship (the old version) and come with two outfits the modern day red yellow stripe shirt with the blue pants and the original Tunic. And im thinking he should take cds or cartridges. And the volume should be a wheel and the on off would be a switch. And hed take 4 or 5 C batteries. Animated eyebrows would be cool. And he'd look like he does in the books, cartoon, and movie.Same with the Grubby. What do you Teddy Ruxpin fans think. Oh and he should be atleast as big as the worlds of wonder version. The other versions were too small in my oppinion

That would be awesome. Though they should have an expanded version of "The Missing Princess" that gives an account of how they got the crystals. In the original version, the crystals weren't even mentioned, most likely due to the PSA at the end. I'm assuming the Backpack Teddy Ruxpin was smaller, because it was holding MP3 cartridges that are probably smaller than the original cassette tapes used for the originals. But, definitely a Teddy V would be amazing.

Saw the link to this on the official Teddy Ruxpin Online Twitter feed, and I got so excited I yelled to my brother, "CHECK THIS OUT!" and showed it to him on my phone. We're both very excited. Already pre-ordered mine. I did check the distributor's website (not Amazon) and it looks like there are no bonus features listed, but I'm not picky. Nothing against the Mill Creek releases (they only had so much to work with and so much $$$ to do it), but the part that bothered me was the warping sound in almost every episode. One such moment happens in the episode where Teddy and Fij sing "Freedom" (I believe it's at the end) and it's a shame, because that's a beautiful, heart-wrenching song. If nothing else, I hope this is addressed in the new release. I'm also hoping for a few different menu styles and not-so-generic box art (I love the new box art), but again, just having some options when it comes to Teddy on DVD is far beyond anything I could've hoped for, considering I don't think I ever really imagined he'd make it into a complete run the first (or second) time. Def excited. As for Teddy V, I think they'd have to have a different market strategy than the original WoW version or the BP Toys version. If kids see something on TV, they're more apt to buy it (or rather, their parents will). Put the show (or a new series) on TV (or movie) and kids will want to hold the bear from TV. Then release the toy a few months later. I don't mind the BP version of "The Airship", but perhaps keep the original WoW version of that particular story and expand upon "The Missing Princess" with such details as Tweeg's attempts to follow them, switching the map, hitching a ride to the Treacherous Mountains, and the finding of the Crystals. "The Airship" is sort of sacred ground for Teddy fans, so it's hard to imagine it working well in an alternate form. Still, any Teddy is good Teddy for me.

That was quite possibly also my biggest bug-bear with Mill Creek's DVDs, too, since "Freedom" is indeed quite a powerful song. I noticed that there are some folks around who seem to think that the show originally aired like that (and have therefore painted it in a negative light when compared to the original book/tape sets on which some of the episodes are based), which is a shame, since we all know that it didn't, and that even the VHS releases weren't like that, either... Also: "Fij"? I thought that the little creature in the adjacent cage didn't even have a name!

I've already preordered my copy. I'm very pleased with the increased number of discs, compared to the Mill Creek set, so I'm setting my hopes on increased video quality and I hope they did fix the issues with the "warping" sound which were present in most of the episodes on the Mill Creek set.
Too bad there isn't that much information available about the upcoming release. No details about which source materials were used (whether they did use the original video transfer or made a brand new transfer from the original film stock). Also no information on additional audio tracks beside English (I won't expect my beloved Dutch dub of the show on a North American release, but the Mill Creek dvd's did have a Spanish audio track too) or extra's (it would be very nice to have the "Animatronic" special on dvd, and the "Come Dream With Me Tonight" special would also make a nice addition).

I don't know specifics about the release - other than quality is of a greater importance to this distributor than it was to the last and that the increase in discs will mean sharper product. I do know however that the release took about six months longer than it was supposed to, which is a good sign regarding quality. They may have cleaned some additional things up, who knows. Thanks to those of you who have pre-ordered. If you haven't yet and would like to, please use this link: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007FZ7LOG?ie=UTF8&tag=tedruxonl-20&creativeASIN=B007FZ7LOG - the website gets a commission off of every sale we refer, so even if you don't want something Teddy related go to Amazon through one of our links and then order and we get a small slice of it. It helps me pay for the website, which now runs about $200 a year to keep. Thanks again guys!

I'm not going to set my sights too high, but I do hope the warping has been fixed. I never had a problem with the video quality of the Mill Creek discs. The warping was the big issue. The show is almost 25 years old (if memory serves), so there's no need to expect a Teddy Ruxpin Blu Ray release. As much as I wish they would add some special features, they are a third-party distributor and not owned or affiliated with AlchemyII, so the energy required to get their hands on things like concept art and other historic elements is understandably limited. The only thing I would've liked is perhaps audio commentary by Mr. Forsse on the first 5 episodes of the series so he could talk about bringing Teddy's storybook adventures to television. I know he had less of a hand in the later episodes, but the first five are pretty much universal Teddy cannon no matter what version you saw/heard first. Interviews with Mr. Forsse, Phil Baron, and Will Ryan would've been wonderful, but again, it all comes down to time and resources. As for the animatronic special, I was fortunate enough to find a copy of it on eBay a while back for $20 or so and did the DVD transfer myself with some touchup work to sharpen the quality. The final product looks fine, especially when upscaled on a high def player, and there was something great about being able to create my own menus and chapters (I created almost 40 of them... ). I've had the "Come Dream With Me Tonight" VHS since I was little and did a transfer of that as well and that looks remarkably good (I used scans from the "Lullabies" tape and book set for the menu backgrounds and some audio clips from the Teddy Ruxpin music cassettes.) These would all be wonderful to have, but at this point I'm just happy someone has recognized the value of the license and will hopefully do a better job of producing and marketing it so that Teddy has a brighter future.
