Hey guys! So the Playskool Teddy I found at the thrift shop for $6 did not work. His eyes and mouth did not move at all. I got really frusterated not being able to find a tutorial on fixing the Playskool version, so I got brave and took him apart. 4 hours later he works great! I wrote a little about what the problem was, and posted this youtube video of Teddy after the fix. I still need to sew the back of his head up, but other than that he is all better. Hope this inspires some of you to fix your Playskool Teddys. It's not impossible as I thought. Good luck. here's the link to the youtube video: youtu.be/hJ_LJIttOHQ

Would you be interested in writing up a tutorial for publication on Teddy Ruxpin Online? This is the first *ever* case I've heard of a Playskool Teddy being fixed. Parts for it are nonexistent, but there still may be other folks out there who simply can tune it up with the existing parts as you did. Let me know. Glad you got it working! Thanks for posting.

Spiffy! I'd be too terrified to do it on mine, but it's awesome that there's a way to fix that.
I'd be interested in the tutorial as well.

Thanks for the comments! I will most certainly do a tutorial. Most likely a photo tutorial with descriptions of what I am doing. I need to wait until the new drive belts come in the mail, and I will do the tutorial as I am replacing the temporary bands (rubber bands) currently inside of Teddy. Also, if anyone would be interested in donating a non-working (Playskool) Teddy Ruxpin which I could use as a spare in the tutorial that would be excellent! A spare Teddy would be helpful while doing this, since most of the dis-mantling, peeling, and scraping has already been accomplished on the one that I have. I would then be able to start fresh and go into details with another Teddy. If anyone wants to do that please contact me for my address. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I could never do this to my WoW Teddy II - he's just too precious to me, as he's been and continues to be a lifelong friend - but wow, it's fantastic to see that someone's finally getting this information out there! There's so little information about fixing them (only that it's time-consuming and that the folks who do restorations don't seem to deal with Teddy II for this reason), and you wouldn't believe the number of eBay listings where the seller assumes that all models are the same and that the pre-existing YouTube videos covering the first Teddy models would help with Teddy II's.
