I dream, and my dreams are all glory and light. That's what I've wanted for my life. And if it hasn't always been that way - Well, I can dream and I can pray. ~ Don Henley
I am working on a large mural-sized graphic for my wall, a picture of the trio sailing into the sunset in the airship and these words embossed over it.

I realize everyone is going to be familiar with this one, but back before everyone and their brother knew what Hobbits were, my favorite quote was from The Lord of the Rings. I did read the books a couple of years before the movies came out, but I believe this quote is unique to the films. As a writer, it has always spoken volumes to me both literally and metaphorically.
FRODO: I can't do this, Sam.
SAM: I know. It's all wrong. By rights we shouldn't even be here. But we are.
It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo: the ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were, and sometimes you didn't want to know the end, because how could the end be happy?
How can the world go back to being the way it was after so much bad happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing: a Shadow, even Darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines, it'll shine out the clearer.
Those are the stories that stayed with you, that meant something, even if you were too small to understand.
But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. Folk in those stories, they had a lot of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.
FRODO: What are we holding on to, Sam?
SAM (lifts Frodo to his feet): That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for.
