I too am glad they went with animation. (And hopefully CGI will be next on any new incarnations that might come about) Vincent is right about the budget- that is why they chose animation over this route for the series. The budget was quite large for that ABC special, as it came about on the heels of Teddy the toy flying off shelves. It is a cool stand-alone, however. Had the series went live-action we probably only would have had a handful of episodes because by the time the stock market crash wiped out WoW only a handful would have been produced.

I bought a copy from Jill Simpson's Teddy Ruxpin reseller page, nine years ago. I was also lucky to get a copy of the sometimes hilarious sounding German dub of the movie (although I understand only a few words of German) from eBay last summer. It was great to see an alternate take on the first five episodes of the animated series and to have a picture of what the land of Grundo would look in live action. Although I preffer the animated series, it's nice to revisit this take on the adventures of Teddy Ruxpin sometimes.

I just won a VHS copy on eBay. Can't wait for it to come! A legit DVD would be awesome, though. I'd definitely buy one.

I'll second that. A clean DVD transfer would be great.

When I lived in NJ, we used to rent this all the time from Blockbuster Video. Now I live sort of out in the middle of nowhere, but I was happy to see that our small, Mom & Poip video rental store has three or four Teddy Ruxpin VHS's...including this one. I rented it a while ago, and boy does it bring back memories! I thought about asking if it would be possible to purchase these videos, but I'm not sure what the policy would be on that. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try.
