I don't remember the cartoon being on as much in the Eighties, but I do remember the toy being sold at our local Wal-Mart. There were several toys that WoW sold, all of them quite expensive. Teddy Ruxpin was my favorite though. I remember getting into the cartoon in the late 80's early 90's as it was part of the weekday line up on USA "Cartoon Express". It was also on ABC and NBC I think. Then hybrid stations like UPN and the OLD Cartoon Network. It was a gamble to find the series and to also watch the show in order. The best and ONLY place to find the show was on VHS at the local Video Rental. Even then, they were hard to find. Most Rental places in town were mom and pop shops that rarely had the entire series in stock.
The only place that did, was Pappa's Video and Pizza. The greatest place in the world. They had awesome pizza and the BEST selection of videos and Nintendo games EVER. Shame they went out of business, but that place remains burned in my memory forever. Whenever I enter a pizza place that sells real brick oven pizza all those memories come back.
Good times man, good times.

Unfortunately, by the time I was old enough to enjoy watching cartoons, Teddy had been off the air for a while. Until the DVDs came out, I only had the "Guests of the Grunges" episode on an old tape.
I did get a Playskool Teddy when I was young, though.

Not even enough room here to post all my memories of the series, many as a youngster watching taped copies my mom would wake up early in the AM to record before I woke up. I got Teddy in orginal syndication on Chicago's Channel 9. There are several great commercials on those old tapes, not to mention the "Protect Yourself" segments. I have transfered most to DVD, although I don't have much hope for them lasting much longer as there as the quality of DVD-R's seems to be more for temporary storage rather than sentimental preservation. Someday, probably in the next decade, when the tapes finally decay I will probably lose those memories forever unless I can find an inexpensive and non time-consuming way to transfer them to digital video and store them on a jump drive or something. I digress. It wasn't always roses growing up for me, and Teddy was always a nice escape from the real world. I had all the play toys too and bathtime was always a lot of fun... particularly I would imagine myself in the leeky lake episodes and a simple plastic cup would make a great subwater boat. My dad always liked LB- maybe because they were both kinda cranky, haha. And dad would imitate LB's inaudible pissed-off mumbling to make me chuckle. I never saw the series on any other channel, although I know several local channels aired the series up until about 1992, as someone else mentioned usually out of order. I wish somebody would bring it back to the airwaves. The DVD's are fantastic of course but it'd be nice to channel surf and get Teddy occasionally. I have had a couple of dreams over the years about a new series... if a dream's a good one, it might come true

Very possible.
I used to have dreams of a Teddy revival, and look where we are now.

I don't remember when I first got hooked on the cartoon, but I watched it religiously when I was little. I lived a block away from my elementary school, so I'd run home for lunch every day and watch Teddy. As a matter of fact, my 1987 WoW Teddy Ruxpin is the very first Christmas present that I remember.
Years later after finishing high school, I was between jobs for a while and found Teddy reruns on Teletoon! I could still remember most of the songs! ;D

I don't remember watching Teddy in his original run...most of what I saw was on VHS that my father was nice enough to record for me. I have most of the series up until "Autumn Adventure". At that point, my father decided to record Perry Mason TV movies over my precious Teddy. Thus, the last 1/3 of the series remained a mystery to me, and was the subject of much speculation among me and my brothers.
I received Teddy on my first Christmas. They recorded our first encounter on film, and somewhere there is a tape from that Christmas that shows me sitting face to face with a talking bear who is almost as big as I am.
I have so many great memories of the show, and while I must agree with Josh, that I miss the classic 80's commercials, having the entire series on DVD is a great treat for someone who has waited all his life to unravel the mysteries of Grundo.
