According to this auction, it's possible to rig a setup that'll allow one to use a power adapter to power a WoW. If this is possible, how does one go about setting up such a system?

It is possible, but I don't recommend trying it or even buying a jerry-rigged toy of this manner.
Basically, you strip an AC Adaptor cable of the male end plug to split the two sets of wires feeding into it (the cable looks like a figure eight). One set of wires feeds a positive electrical charge while the other feeds a negative charge, much like a battery's negative and positive ends. You'll need an electrician's meter to tell which is which since these days the cable coloring and metals are identical for both.
Problem with this set up is you'll have a Hell of a time finding an AC Adaptor that will feed the right voltage into the toy without frying it. The Teddy talker takes 4 x D cell batteries. These have 1.5V each for a combined voltage of 8V. Unless you find a variable voltage AC Adaptor (and even there I have never seen one for 8V), the only voltage settings you will ever find is 1.5V, 20V, 60V, and 120V.
The other problem with adapting your talker to an AC Adaptor is the increased risk of a short. Contrary to popular believe, the current comming from a wall plug is not a constant. With normal usage, the current has minor spikes and lags that are never noticed. The more appliances in your house that are plug in, the greater the spikes and lags. A lag will not do anything to the talker, but a spike will short out the talker, even cause a fire. As cute as he is, Teddy is made of very combustible materials.
Not to mention the risk of electrocution. Unless you're an expert at insulating wires, trying to unplug your talker with result in a nasty electricity burn with a side of defibrilation.
Don't do it yourself, don't buy it, and report the guy for selling a hazard.

Very well said by OneMouse... It's a cool idea, but the execution of it could be disasterous. I would send a friendly note to the seller with the above information and politely request he take it down. If he didn't I'd then report to Ebay.

I didn't think it was possible.
Thanks everyone!
