I bought a strangely clothed Teddy Ruxpin and have discovered something I had no idea about in the process! Apparently there was a Teddy Ruxpin display at the Expo 86 World's Fair in Vancouver where they had been a "Giant Teddy Ruxpin" displayed in the California pavilion.

"We'd made this huge animatronic talking teddy bear, Teddy Ruxpin, for the California pavilion," he said in a recent interview. "So I was hanging around overseeing the installation and I fell in love with Vancouver, which is not very difficult to do."
"He's come a long way since those days at Expo 86, babysitting Teddy Ruxpin the talking teddy bear at the California pavilion."

"Up for auction: Original Worlds of Wonder (WOW) Teddy Ruxpin " Vancouver Expo '86 Outfit ". This is a VERY RARE piece of Teddy Ruxpin collectables. The outfit was not available in stores. WOW only made it available at the California Pavillion at the Expo '86 Fair in Vancouver, B.C. Canada. The outfit is complete with blue shorts, and hooded sweatshirt with drawstring. The sweatshirt is printed "TEDDY RUXPIN VANCOUVER, B.C. 1986" and "The Californias". The set is in excellent condition. Although this item is from 1986s, it looks brand new. I am the original owner and have lovingly preserved this and several other WOW items. (See my other auctions). If you are the winning bidder, I will combine items in one shipment."
Needless to say, I've struggled to find any more info on this outfit, how it was sold, or the giant Teddy Ruxpin. I'm sure photos/video MUST exist, but I didn't find anything right away. If anyone can help my search, please do!
Here's a couple photos of the bear I got:
This Teddy is a Gen 1 and also has this... cotton fiber looking stuff in the eyes, which are lighter than others I've bought. I've never noticed the fiber before, and I'm not sure why the eyes are lighter. Anyone have any ideas? Just a color variant? Why the fibers in this guy, though?
For reference, here are the eyes from another, Gen 2 plastic tape player Teddy. No fiber in the darker eyes.
Oh, and he works about as bad as most other Gen 1 Teddy's you find. His eyes blink but the pinch roller is dented in multiple areas and needs to be replaced. It causes an awful stutter and pause while playing a tape. He sounds great though, very clean and well taken care of, and I'm sure the mouth would move in time if I fought with it enough. I'm hesitant to repair the roller if he's rare, though.
If anyone has photos/info on other clothing variants, I'd love to see!
