Adding the Canadian notables in that list, we're at 15 stars gone this year.
I hate this year.

This year hasn't been one worth writing home about, that's for 'dang sure.
Thanks for posting the link. I was coming here belatedly this evening to do just that, glad to see we have gathered in our community to say goodbye to the voice of Quellor. I also remember him fondly from the TV series "You Can't Do That On Television"
About 9 years ago an internet hoax was started about his death, to the point mine and other websites were putting out tributes to him. I am saddened to be doing it for real this time.

I have to say, TAoTR was my primary exposure to Mr. Lye. I don't recall ever seeing "You Can't Do That On Television." Wasn't that a Canadian show?
I noticed on the IMDB that he played a part in a couple of the early Care Bear cartoons. Anyone know who he voiced?

I think it was Noheart, the villain (big surprise). The voices are awefully similar. I know this because my neice is an avid CB fan and, my being a AdvRux fan, I have the opportunity to compare. I'll look for credits to be sure.

Yes, Les' voice was just right for villains. He also played Drudge and a couple of the other MAVO counterparts in the series. The voice is hauntingly similar to some he did in "You Can't Do That On Television", too. Interesting also to note that he and Abby Hagyard, (who played Eleanor) are very good off-screen friends and have worked together several times as well.

Wow that really blows! first Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Captain Lou Abino and others now one of the coolest villain voice actors ever.

Some of the most talented men and women in entertainment. All icons of the 80's. Just amazing. As a wrestling fan, the death of Captain Lou was staggering to me. Farrah Fawcett was a true icon of her day and set the bar for what every heroine would be for years to come. Just look at Lara Croft. Love him or hate him, no one was left untouched by the death of Michael Jackson: arguably the greatest entertainer of our generation. But I think the fact that Les Lye is so vividly connected to so many childhood memories makes his passing a little more unnerving. Not sure if that makes any sense.
Quellor was the first villain I grew to love to hate. I was always fascinated by him and his airship, the Eclipse. It was characters like Quellor that made Teddy Ruxpin more than just a children's television series. It made it exciting, and dreadful, and memorable.
May he rest in peace.
