Now the servos are free and all parts move briefly when I turn Teddy on. This only happens when he's not talking and he doesn't animate to the stories. What should I do?

I hope the mouth is not operated by rubber drive belts because that means his days are numbered....like Playskool Teddy. Those guys were poorly designed. Still they were adorable.☺

I wanted to give an update on my WoW Teddy. Apparently, somebody had soldered the animation connection shut. That's why he wouldn't animate. We've removed that soldering and he works perfectly. I'm so glad.

Hello everyone!! I have a backpack Teddy and I need help getting the mouth and nose off. I have replaced the fabric on the nose and now need to get to the brain, wheels and belts to get them cleaned in hopes it will stop making noise when they move, mouth and nose. I have everything apart or unscrewed and the clips of the nose and mouth wont come off which is keeping the half's of the head together. I don't see a screw I have undone what I can in the mechanism. Anyone have a suggestion?
All the video's are of the older Teddy and they don't have 2 solid plastic half's for the heads.
Thank you
Dona

Teddy. In this case you might actually have to break some of the plastic on the top snout to get the two head pieces apart. If I remember clearly, there may also be a hidden screw inside the mouth, but I am not sure. It's worth a look.

Thank you, I shutter at breaking anything, I am new to putting things back together. I am pretty good at taking things apart. I did find a screw inside the mouth it's under the tongue. But it still didn't help get it apart. So now i'm putting it back together again and of course something came loose and is not moving like it should. Lets see how far I get before I give up. I may look at the video's online again first. Thank you very much for your help. Dona

You have to remove the nose and mouth first, in order to be able to take the two half skulls apart. The parts are glued to a hinge part that stays behind. Very carefully you can pry off the nose and mouth parts. You have to be slow, otherwise it brakes. If you look behind the top of the nose you can see where the two parts meet.

Hello there, Alex!
It sounds like a piece of Teddy's Plastic mount for his servos are broken. I bought a second Teddy Ruxpin a year ago, and he also had this problem. However, the broken mount meant his mouth was completely detached from the head, and fell out constantly. My hypothesis is that either the back of his head is broken, or the snout only has a cracked plating. I can't be sure about this, so you might want to try massaging his snout to see if the problem ceases in the future. If a month passes and no progress seems to be made, I'm afraid you have no choice but to crack him open, as you will need to glue the plates back together If it turns out his face-plate is broken, please refer to some of the videos in the beginning of the thread.
If you ever need to fix the plate, I'd recommend removing the fur, foam, and face-plate as shown in the videos, but I would then remove the servos from the face. This can be accomplished by removing the springs located in the back of his head, then simply slide the servos out of the housing. Next, you will want to remove the plugs within his board (The ones which control his face, if you can pinpoint them). Then, slide the neck assembly from his body. This should make gluing the face-plate back onto his correct position much easier.
I need to note that when I mention the "Face-plate Housing", I'm not referring to the plate of plastic where Teddy s fur is glued over. I am referring to the square piece of plastic where the motors rest within the head.
Hopefully, this post might help you. Good luck!

So far I've repaired two Teddy Ruxpins, a generation 1 that was my sisters and a generation 3 (converted to a gen 1 because it needed a bunch of parts) that I bought off craigslist. I have worked on a grubby but can't test him because I can't seem to find a replacement cord. I still need to repair my own of course which has all the screws stripped away has anyone else had that issue? He needs a new eye (trying to make his eyes close as a kid....than I put an eye patch on him and he's been a pirate ever since!) and I think he needs a new belt he talks very deep and slow. Any advice on the stripped screws? I've tried a rubber band which didn't work and a few other things but they seem to be stuck in there. When I have the room to do it again I'd like to buy some broken ones and fix those maybe try my hand at some others like Mickey or Goofy. I actually fixed the Teddy and Grubby from craigslist up for my niece but she's a bit hard on her toys. So they sit with my set and we play with them together when she comes over. Well Grubby just sits and listens quietly lol I've loved the experience of the tear downs, my mess ups, parts salvaging and just the general fun in the whole thing. The best part is actually getting them to work again.
