I think they are pretty cool, actually.
My ex girlfriend who lived with me for nearly 6 years got one from her parents. It was really funny. I never had one as a kid because I was "too old" to have one as a teenager in the 1990's when they came out. I was not prepared for teaching the creature to speak English, nor was I prepared to see it dance and carry on whenever I played Heavy-Metal and hard rock. heck even my dog (A Labrador) thought it was neat. I got such a kick out of it dancing to my heavy-metal, hair-metal and hard rock music, I made it a special pedestal to ride in the cup-holder in my truck while it bopped along. We often took it with us whenever I drove to see my parents for supper on Sunday Night. What was really funny about the furby is when I played Twisted Sister enough times it picked up phrases from We're Not Gonna Take It and Wanna Rock. I roared with laughter every time it said them!!! She took the Furby with her when she moved out. Scooter (The Labrador) often liked to bark at it and lick it. Sometimes I had to put the Furby up high enough to get him out of Scooter's reach.

I had a large collection of Furby!
I had 1999 and 2005 version, but never liked the 2012 one.
I actually like some of the knockoff Furbies more than the real ones! They are much cuter!

I definitely am, I'd love to see more active discussions about them.

I definitely am, I'd love to see more active discussions about them. Did you know, the processor used in the original Furby was a variant of the one used in the Apple II computer? They certainly were very amazing for their time, and much better than the 2012 and other modern versions, in my opinion. However, I do like the 2005-2006 versions. They were not as technologically advanced as the originals, but the animatronics were rather impressive, and they were cute. I wish they kept the original concept of the Furby, a robotic pet you can "teach" and take care of. I had envisioned the new Furbies to be more like the 2005 version, but more realistic and advanced. But it was not so. I miss my old Furby collection. I had about 100, including the knockoffs. They have become rather expensive lately.

Wow, that's really interesting, actually. What happened to your old collection?

It is a long story, but I sold them along with my other toys and doll many years ago. I regret it more than anything. However, I am slowly building up my collection again.
