Hi Guys and Gals,
I've sent Josh a couple of pencil werx for a comic I want to do based on the cartoon series but altering different points to deepen the story.
Eg: Teddy was born in the Hard-to-Find City (He was one year old when Gutangs razed it) and led to believe that his father is a 'Low-life adventurer'. In fact, Burl was the original holder of the Black Box crystal and was attack by Quellor at the time.
The things I want to know from you are:
1) Would Teddy work as a manga? 2) Are there any plot points that might work?
Catchalatah,
Ben

That would be totally awesome. I think if done right it could work as a comic/manga, since I never seen the show (sadly ) I don't know much about what plots to do though.

Thanks Aura! At last, imput!
The thing I want to do is adapt the episodes already done but without the filler and add new stuff like mythologies and characters as needed.
Just to bring TR into the next century in style.

I need some plot help.
I want to do a story prior to the first episode where Teddy is told by Illana that his father is a 'low-life' adventurer who decided to go adventuring instead of stay with his family. Not having a dad in his childhood hasn't really bothered Teddy of late, seeing as Digger is a older role-model for him and Teddy is adamant that he will be carpenter. However, questions still arise about the elusive Burl and it is then that the truth about his disappearance is revealed.
While Illana is out, a stray ball goes into the forbidden attic and knocks over a chest with the map, the (complete) medallion and a journal of what happened the night The Hard-to-Find City was destroyed. Grubby goes up to get the ball and calls a reluctant Teddy upstairs where he reads the journal and becomes enraged at the lies.
(In this manga story, Illana and Teddy are refugees from the city of Felaril, the so-called Hard to Find city which was razed in a sudden attack from Gutangs led by a horned leader. This happens fifteen years ago in this story so Teddy was too young to remember. This change gives Teddy an iron clad reason to go back and piece together what happened to Burl -which has a deeper worth to him than the treasure.)
Digger and Teddy have a fight using their quarterstaves (a racially-prefered weapon) and every time, Teddy knocks Digger to the ground, another piece of Burl lore is given. Eventually, Teddy is too tired to go on but fights anyway. A flash of lightning strikes in the distance and for a moment, Digger thinks he sees Burl instead of Teddy standing against him.
After the fight, Teddy makes the anouncement that he will be an adventurer in front of the village. Meanwhile, a red caped figure stands before a ruined city mentioning that he will find his sister.
What do you guys think so far?

i like the dark twist on the story. i think if you actually put the time into this it would be well worth it! i think what made teddy ruxpin better than all the other shows of the period was the ongoing story line and adventure, paired with the neat knobbly artwork.

How about this for an Idea? Half of MAVO decides to break off, led by the Understander of Legends who believes Quellor has deviated from 'tradition' and names her new faction: The Sinistry. This faction uses a lot more magic than MAVO does and is all the more dangerous for it...

Plot: When a new star appears in the skies above Grundo, what does this new omen signify?

A fight scene, i reccomend it, not anthing unsuitable for Teddy, but something really dramatic.

A good suggestion but I was thinking story line wise.
How about this? During Quellor's curse (Epi 59) and during an 'omitted' scene, Teddy was fading fast on his way to MAVO HQ. The dark whispers in his mind mocked him incessantly and he collapsed as his 'light' suddenly went out. Something heard his spirit screaming and answered by giving him the strength to carry on and accomplish the most promenent adventure he has ever done. This strange occurance as troubled Teddy who only half-remembers the odd encounter and now doubts himself as a being labelled a hero by the people of Grundo.
However, a gutang attack on a nearby village about to answer all his tough questions and become the start of a new quest to find the source of new found powers.

A Teddy Ruxpin Manga? That would be a pretty good. I have an idea. Just as in the series when the 7 crystals has a different abbility, They would have different abbilities then in the cartoon. One would have the power to heal and another one would have the ability to Telleport, etc. etc.

What about having countless shards and crystals of different sizes and types that can be enchanted with different methods. The seven crystals are the purest of their kind that came from a meteorite. This means that small shards that can be carried like charms by anyone who has an affinity for them.
How's that???
