I know we all love Teddy Ruxpin, but do any of you guys have other teddy bears? I've always loved teddies for as long as I can remember. I have about 200 of them and I'm collecting more. It was my love of teddy bears and my love of talking toys that made me fall in love with Teddy Ruxpin.

I collect plushes in general, and, as a toy designer, I also make them. I've made several bears for fundraising purposes, too - they're quite fun to work on! ;D

Cool. Where can I get one of your bears or at least be able to feel them?

I'm afraid I haven't made any in a while - I'm still in the stage of doing one-offs and custom requests. I'm hoping to be able to break into freelance design at some point within the next couple of years, though - if I land any gigs, I'll be sure to let you know (assuming I'm not disallowed from doing so by contracts!).

I never found an affinity for bears or plush, but I do collect toys and toy-esque collectibles. I have a glass case full of bobbleheads and pretty much anything Superman related. The smaller room of my house looks like a 2nd grader lives there, and I'll have it no other way

I too collect toys. I've got a few Transformers toys, a lot of Star Trek and Star Wars toys, some Batman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ghostbusters and Power Rangers.

As you know I'm a fairly new convert to Star Trek - I hope to add a few pieces this year. I'm a bigger fan of the original series / original cast's movies than the others so I will probably go with those kinds of items. What's out there in that regard?

I don't really collect teddy bears, but one jewel of my general collection is my huge Tenderheart carebear that I've had since I was six. Home isn't home until he's found a place in it. Other than that, I collect video games. I have systems from the Atari 2600 on up. ;D

There's a lot of action figures, model ships and busts. Because it's the original, and because JJ Abrams produced and directed the 2009 movie, The Original Series has become more popular. Toy stores, hobby shops and comic book shops would have all that stuff in stock. And of course ebay and thrift stores will have stuff that came out between 1966, when the show started, right through to 1987 when Star Trek: The Next Generation came out. Most of my Star Trek action figures are from The Next Generation, as that's what was available here in Canada at the time. Mego produced some toys and playsets in the '70s, when the series was in syndication and airing reruns every day of the week.
To get a better idea of what's out there, I'd suggest checking out the Star Trek wiki at memory-alpha.org, the monthly magazine, Star Trek The Magazine also gives previews of what's upcoming in collectibles and toys.

I wondered where you were on this topic, Tom as I know you're a bear collector.

I have a stuffed animal collection. It's not huge but if I find one I really like the feel of, I'll get it. A cute one I have is a cat with butterfly wings and antennae. Her fur is so soft, almost like a real cat. It's a unique find.
