Hi. I've got a couple of questions about Teddy.
Okay, I have a Playskool Teddy and my cousin has a WoW Teddy. I was looking at her WoW "The Airship" book, and I noticed that it didn't have near as much text as my Playskool version. I think it only had one or two sentences per page, and no lyrics to any of the songs. Are all of the WoW books like that, or was it just a one-time thing? Does this mean that WoW tapes have less dialogue than the Playskool tapes?
Also, I was looking for Teddy videos on Youtube, and I noticed that someone had posted a video of Teddy and Grubby singing in Japanese. Can an American Teddy play foreign tapes or are they region locked?

Most of the WoW books were of the same style as "The Airship" book, with just one or two sentences. Other WoW books, such as "The Mushroom Forest" and "Sign of a Friend" were of the same style as the Playskool books, with complete dialogue and lyrics. Fortunately, this does NOT mean that the WoW versions have less dialogue. The actual material on the respective tapes are identical, with complete narration and music. The only alteration to the story came in 2006 with the BackPack Toys version in which the story was redone with additional material and added depth with the subplot of Tweeg and L.B. scheming to get to the Treasure before Teddy and the gang. Otherwise, ALL versions of the Teddy stories from 1985-1998 are the same. I have never tried a foreign Teddy tape in an English-speaking Teddy, but I would assume it would work, considering the technology would be the same, it's the soundtrack that is different. I doubt the technology was that sophisticated (or that they would have been THAT concerned about it at the time) that they would have "region-locked" the tapes. But again, I have had no experience in that field. You mgiht try the Teddy Ruxpin FAQ for info like that. www.mindspring.com/~mathue/faq.html

Teddy Ruxpins were manufactured and shipped out all over the world from the same factories- so your tapes won't be region locked. Foreign language tapes are quite rare. I have seen some Japanese ones that are really cool. I would love to hear the narration.

If the singing on the video I saw on Youtube is anything to go by, I'll bet that Teddy has an adorable Japanese voice.
