Hi,
After watching the cartoon again, I realized that there's another thing I'm not sure about. Can the effect of the crystals be controlled? For example, could somebody shrink or grow an object only slightly with the Reducing Machine? I could see how some of the crystals, like the third one, couldn't be controlled. Why would you want to make something partially invisible, except to trick somebody? That's my thought for today. Have a good one.

Indeed! Quite right! Learning what these crystals do is the hardest feat Gimmick ever attempted!
He can manually control the Reducing Machine. Gimmick has demonstrated that he leaves the beam on longer, and simply turns the device off when ready to stop the reducing/enlarging. It's "manually timed" via two switches on the front of the portable version of the device. Gimmick said himself he is "prepared to spend days on end, searching through untold amounts of uhh.. uh.. things." to discover the secrets of the crystals!
As far as the other crystals.. I think Gimmick's devices and discoveries were really just unintended benefits. Like, they were really designed and intended for something much larger scale. But I always imagined a new season of Teddy Ruxpin that featured full utilization of the crystals, like using them to power other devices like the Subwater Boat. Maybe the Fourth Crystal could use pneumatics to power a Jetpack device, and other inventions!
