Hi
With the WCT Teddy Ruxpin no longer being produced, it is even more important to try and keep the original 1985 bears working.
The biggest problem while I have been repairing Teddy Ruxpin is when they exhibit - eye, upper and lower jaw jittering and moving
when he should not. Also the eye, upper and lower jaw often have no smooth control but again judder from one position to another.
The culprit for this is the servos that move eyes, upper and lower jaw. After 35 years the feedback from the servo position gets worn out.
The problem just gets progressively worse. The option is really only to:-
1/ swap the servo from a donor bear (which will work until it also wears)
2/ Try and clean and lube the track on the servo (works for a short period of time sometimes)
The only other option is to change the part on the servo that causes the problem, trouble is after 35 years they are no longer made.
In light of WCT Teddy Ruxpin not being manufactured any more.I have commissioned and having made the replacement part that will fix
this problem.
I run TeddyRuxpinhospital.com in the UK so it is not practical to have the Teddy Ruxpins sent to me for repair from the USA.
I will be therefore be selling them in the USA so that you can replace the part yourself, you will need basic soldering skills and know
how to access the servos in your Teddy Ruxpin. I will be selling to them forum members at the same price I am having them manufactured
and supplied to me at which is £20.00 plus postage and packaging.
This hopefully will enable you to resurrect many more Teddy Ruxpins, that have consigned the to the loft or garage.
you can contact me at Kevin@kmilliken.com
Hope this helps
