Hey all, New to the site and wanted to say Hi!
I look forward to learning so much more about Teddy.
I have two currently in my collection. The first one I got was the 2006 version I picked up in Ontario, Canada for $40 (inc tax). Great condition, no box, no cartridge.
Today my buddy informed me he has gotten me an original, cassette tape version. He was only $35 Canadian. He's working....but no cassette. I'm so stoked. I'm a sucker for nostalgia, and happy to display this alongside my Omnibot.
I look forward to learning so much more about Teddy. I'd love for my kids to see him working. Hoping I can figure out some of these audio hacks that people seem to have success with.
Thanks for looking

Hello, welcome to the fandom! As of now, I don't believe anyone has managed to digitize any of the cartridges for the Backpack Teddy. It's a pretty complex process.
The original Teddy, however, has plenty of his MP3 files available online to download for use.

I've kind of accepted that my backpack Teddy will be most a display item. I'm ok with that. I don't plan on spending tons of cash to get the cartridges. If I find some for a good deal, I'll jump on them. Outside of that he just reminds me of my youth... and he looks cool! To me that's enough. Lol
However with my newly acquired teddy, whom I pick up Sunday, who has a cassette player....I'd like to learn more, and hopefully find these working audio files. To date I've had little success. I believe I've found 7 stories and I'm unsure if the audio contains the required track to produce the animation.
However I had gone ahead and ordered the cassette adapters from Ebay in hope that I figure this out.
I'm excited. I think my daughter (5) will get a kick out of him... but my son (3) who's a plush/stuffie junkie will really like him.
It excites me, because when I think of all the toys/plush in the house, many of which talk...none move and talk.
Teddy is no doubt special.

Have you looked on archive.org? They've got the files with the signals.

@ illiopmom , I did. That is where I found the 8 stories. I got the ZIP file from the site, I noticed it had 28 files, but it is the same 7 files in what I believe to be various bit rates. Perhaps somewhere on the page more stories are available, I just missed them ?
I'm also available at vibefx @ gmail .com

I see. I can email some files over to you. Which stories do you have currently so that I won't send any duplicates of what you have already?

@ illiopmom,
First off I'd like to thank you for your help. Perhaps not the thread for it, but my intent/hope is to pick up an iPod shuffle, or inexpensive iPod for the sole purpose of using with Teddy. I ordered off eBay 2 of the cassette adapters I've seen used on YouTube to work with Teddy. Fingers crossed it will work. I haven't found much info on the little tips and tricks, etc. This is all kinda new to me.. I've only had my one Teddy for a few weeks now.
That said I have the following stories :
Double Grubby All About Bears Grubby's Romance One More Spot Teddy Ruxpin Lullabies The Airship The Story of the Faded Fobs

No problem, I've sent some over. My email will only allow me to send so many at a time, unfortunately.
I don't know much about how the iPod Teddies work, but as for the cassette adaptor, the Teddies with metal cassette decks work best. If yours isn't, there's ways to modify the tape itself to play properly.

Much appreciated. I'm home now and just got the files. Thank you again.
I was supposed to go pick up Teddy today, but due to a snow storm I did not. I'll get him next week.
None the less the quest to acquire more and more audio will continue.
Thanks all

Wanted to provide an update on my Teddy journey thus far. So I've got Teddy, he's in good shape. I've washed his vest, but yet to clean him. Today my cassette adapters arrived, so I ran downstairs, cheap MP3 player intact and started to play the audio files that I have. (With the exception of two WAV files I have) I got no movement from Teddy, I know he works, it's my audio files. So back upstairs I go, charging up an old iPod. Intent is to move over all the audio files I have tonight onto the iPod and test him out. I'm really hoping I will be able to duplicate the success of others I have seen on YouTube. I'll post my results/findings later.
Thank you

Just wanted to provide an update. I realize I'm crossing multiple topics here in one thread. Perhaps not ideal for getting help/advice, etc....but ah well ! So with the exception of two WAV files I got all my Teddy audio here: archive.org/details/TeddyRuxpin(* I've seen this link posted elsewhere here, so I hope it is OK to post) I got all my audio, 30 files, moved over to my iPod. Connected the iPod to the cassette adapter, adapter placed into Teddy. I get audio, no movement. I tried every audio file with the exception of one WAV file. But regardless of the file, NO MOVEMENT. Now I'd like to clear something up, make sure I'm understanding something. Two tracks, LEFT and RIGHT, one contains the story, one contains the automation ques. Is this correct ? With that said, if I'm correct in my understanding, when I listen thru headphones should I only hear audio from one side, the other side should simply contain the pulses (or whatever they are called) ? If I'm correct, and I'm understanding then I can say all the audio I have I believe to be incorrect. I say this because I added everything to a playlist and played thru my headphones. I get the story audio in both my LEFT and RIGHT ear. Some stories I can hear a buzzing sound, and when using Teddy this buzz projects thru the speaker. I'm guessing with Teddy that with the audio on one side, automation on the other, the speaker simply plays the audio track from the one side, essentially muting the automation stuff. Any info and help would be appreciated.
