This came with a special promotional Teddy for a radio or TV channel. The Teddy also had a special box. Attachments:

I understand that Noah just got a copy of this tape or will be receiving it soon. I'm a bit surprised he hasn't said anything about it in this thread, but maybe he'll come along and say something about it soon enough.

I'm quite confused over the context of this Teddy. I've seen the listings on eBay for something like $500 for this teddy, box and tape, but he has no insignia on his vest, no teddy ruxpin packaging or any mention of his name. Was this part of some unofficial promotion that couldn't legally use the copyrighted names? Was this something done by WOW? Also, the 'FACTS THAT BEAR REPEATING' Seems like a not-quite-right translation from another language and just seems like a really mysterious phrase to plaster over the box. And the repeating? Was he modified to repeat people talking to him? A very mysterious item, that's for sure.

I wonder if the voice is even Phil Baron... But I must correct, he does have the logo on his vest, you can see it if you look closely. I don't think he was modified to be a repeating bear.. I think he is just a normal Teddy with a different tape and box, and a pin on his vest.

Did you get the listing of only the tape? It is definitely not Phil Baron.. Someone on the FaceBook group said the name, but I forgot it.. The tape is not mine, it belongs to another member of the forum. Yes it was the listing for only the tape. It not only has no animation, but also does not have the tape recognition hole.

Hi 1/ If the Tape has no animation coding why would a marketing company send it out with effectively a dead bear? 2/ Is the audio stereo or mono? 3/ I would suspect the tape is modern as there are technical reasons why this would be the case. 4/ It would need to be analyzed, and without this I can only assume it is modern.I am happy to analyze it for free! Regards Kevin www.teddyruxpinhospital.com We need no analysing, it is not modern, unless you consider the 1980s modern. It is legitimate, and was sold with a promotional Teddy. Look at the pictures for yourself. The radio stations it advertised may not even exist anymore (not sure, they are not from where I live). In the FaceBook group we were also puzzled about why this tape has no animation coding. We suspect they did not get licence from WoW.

Thanks Kevin www.teddyruxpinhospital.comSBS Superstation (probbably not Shizuoka Broadcast, but some American station with similar abbreviation..) If they wanted to use Teddy's voice and WoW animation coding, they would have to pay them. Veritel, another company, was sued for making unofficial tapes for WoW toys.
