Mom said I had a Teddy when I was a baby in 1986, but the first time I saw him when I was aware of what was happening I was six, and this little girl brought him to school with her. I remember being on the bus and hearing the Airship, and she also had All About Bears. I didn't get to hear him that much then, but I was seriously in love and wanted him badly. I got the WOW version for Christmas in 1994, but sadly someone stepped on him and broke him, and Mom threw him away or something, or maybe he was just lost in the next move, but I barely got to play him at all then *grrrr*.
I've always loved and always had teddy bears, but in 2011 after some family tragedies I started seriously collecting them as they gave me a lot of comfort and still do. I was searching for an old teddy I had as a kid that would repeat what you said when you pressed his paw. Whenever I would try to ask people if they remembered a bear like this, they kept saying it was Teddy Ruxpin, but I knew, of course, that that was not true. I remembered that I liked Teddy as a kid, and then wound up looking him up on You Tube and seriously getting hooked on his music and stories. I wanted to see what he felt like again, so I found one on eBay for a penny, plus shipping of course. Poor guy was in really bad shape. He had lost his bottom jaw and his eye was caved in. I eventually passed him on to someone who could repair him, but I have one WOW with a plastic tape player whose tape player works although it drags a bit, but the eyes and mouth won't move any more, a full-size WCT Teddy, a Hug N Sing Teddy and Grubby, and a Play School Teddy on his way to me.
