Mr. Baron answered couple of questions about Teddy:
Q.: What does Teddy mean for you? Can you compare yourself to him?
Phil Baron: The great acting teacher Stanislovsky said that “acting is being.” Actors often become very attached to their characters, in a sense, “becoming” them. Since I was also the head writer for Teddy Ruxpin, I think that certainly the character reflects me to a great extent. But Teddy also is very much a reflection of his creator, Ken Forsse.
Q.: How much time you took out to record your part of the script (incl. songs)?
Phil Baron: Each TV show took about one day to record with all the actors. We did the recordings in Ottowa, Canada. The books also took one session – usually about 3-4 hours.
Q.: Do you sing Teddy songs in your private life or it's job only?
Phil Baron: Occasionally a Teddy song will come into my head. George’s music is unforgettable.
Q. What do you think about Natalia's versions of songs?
Phil Baron: She sings with great passion and enthusiasm, which moves me deeply. She really means what she is singing. Great singing is great acting.
Q. Do you like to read? Who are your favorite authors?
Phil Baron: I always have 2-3 books going at the same time. My favorites right now are two very different authors – Herman Melville and P.G. Woodhouse.

And this is his essay about people with disabilities (we plan to do an interview for Russian media before concert in Yekaterinburg):
"I don't hear people say that special needs are a punishment, although that was the attitude of some people long ago.
Obviously, if a parent has abused drugs or other substances, then there can impact an unborn child. In that case, the parent has responsibility. But in my understanding, God would never punish anyone in that way.
Here, over the past several decades, there has been a strong effort to get the society to accept people with differences, and to find a way to include all people in as many ways as possible.
For example, making buildings accessible to the handicapped is now a law.
My wife Michelle, as an expert in sign language (she wrote Teddy Ruxpin's story "Sign of a Friend") knows about these issues.
It's up to parents to make their children understand that everyone has value, no matter what their physical abilities are.
Often you get someone like Stephen Hawking with severe disabilities who is a genius. How can you say he is not equally worthy?
We welcome many people at our synagogue with "differences," as do most churches.
We even have a special elevator that makes it possible for people in wheelchairs to participate in our services. There should be no obstacles to participation and acceptance.
I do believe in the power of the mind to heal.
However, there is no question that it's up to us to decide how we feel about our challenges, and that makes the biggest difference. Natalia is clearly a person who does not let those challenges stand in her way.
A famous rabbi once said, "Life often...forces you to surrender where your task is to conquer." For some people the task is greater, but the victory is so much sweeter!

That certainly is very interesting.

That recording was really sweet!
He does sound more mature, but not too obviously so.
Perhaps they should make the Teddy Ruxpin character a little older than 15-16 (his original age).

I think that only fans know Teddy's age. Ordinary people don't care about it. I read the reviews on Amazon - biggest part of authors wrote that they and their kids loved Teddy Ruxpin for his stories and songs.

Maybe if Teddy fans asked he would agree to record such greetings by requests.

Maybe, though I wouldn't push for everyone sending him messages. He has moved on.

Maybe, though I wouldn't push for everyone sending him messages. He has moved on. I wouldn't say he has "moved on" from Teddy Ruxpin, as he will be the voice of the 2017 Teddy, who will have extra capabilities. He is probably still recording extra content for the new toy.

He has not, but for now toy company doesn't plan to record new materials. Mr. Baron is very upset.

Well, what I meant by that was that it's not his main focus anymore and that it might not be wise for everyone to send him messages all the time.

Awesome, but I think they should slightly raise the voice pitch (technologically) hehe. He'll probably sound the same if they do that. EDIT: That absolutely does not work hehe. He does it good. But he sounds like he's a little too close to the mic, that's all.

They probably have better software than most of us do.

Having had the pleasure to be present with Phil on several occasions over the past three years, I can say he definitely can do Teddy's voice as if no time has passed. In fact, during the couple of times he's done so in my presence, it's like being taken back to my childhood.
Phil is a genuine, benevolent, talented and bright person. We are very fortunate that life presented him the opportunity to be Teddy. It wouldn't be the same without him.
