Oh, it would be very interesting if there was a Reel-To-Reel tape with Teddy Ruxpin or other WoW stories! Did you know there are demo tapes, I think from the studio? Noah Agrios has some of them. They are normal compact cassettes. I heard that BackPack Toys Teddy's audio is in MP3 format. But this may have been an assumption by collectors. I am not sure how you would extract data from that version. Presumably with some kind of modification. Like PlaySkool version of Teddy, for that one you must take him apart and access the circuit board. It would be interesting if someone could make a kind of flash cartridge for BackPack Teddy. One could even add new stories to that cartridge. I assume the animation coding is the same as Playskool and Yes!, which were simple and easy to replicate. Also, I also watch Techmoan sometimes! I expect that when the original recordings were made in the recording studio back in the 80s they would have been made on reel to reel mastering tape or some other very high quality form of recording media. I don't think the original master recordings were made directly to cassette tapes, the original recordings mostly likely would have been duplicated to cassette tapes later on in the process. Yes, I suspect most people just assume the audio is in MP3 format. I expect the animation coding is digital and is synchronised with the audio, I don't know enough about the animation to know how they did it, but I assume it's contained in a data file on the cartridge. The motor is probably driven by pulse width modulation. I'm getting out of my depth here so I'm probably wrong, but it's possible that there's the slightest chance that is uses some form of GCODE. much like what 3D printers use.

Hm.. Maybe but, I think the animation coding may be the same as or similar to the other versions of Teddy besides original WoW. I could be wrong, as I too do not know how it was done.. It is hard to tell because, again, no one has extracted the data/audio from BackPack Teddy yet.

Or you could set up a DropBox account if you don't already have one, upload the file to DropBox and post the URL in the forum if you like. First of all I'd check Josh's forum rules before doing so, if Josh would prefer us not to upload any audio to the forum, then please don't, we need to obey the rules of the forum.

Friends. I have recently written a piece of Mac software to read the original Teddy recordings and process the data track into animation data. You can see an example of the program here:
I only have 3 tapes, but would like to get as many recordings as possible with the original data track intact. Does anyone here have that archive and be willing to share it? Thanks. Eventually I'll be releasing a better version of the software that shows the full toys.

Those MP3s don't seem to have the warbly data from the right side stereo channel. That's where the data is stored.
