Lol. That's what I was picturing in my head when I posted that comment. This is how it would probably go:
Teddy - "My name is Teddy Ruxpin, I'm an Illiop."
Gimmick - "No! There is no such thing as an Illiop!"
Grubby - "Well, there is too. Teddy here is one."
Gimmick - "The existence of Illiops is scientifically impossible. If there were such creatures, I would have...eh...met one before...uh...now."
Grubby - "Oh brother."
Lol. Just saying that's how it could've happened, based on Gimmick's personality and his conversations with others about the existence of creatures such as Woodsprites, Elves and Snowzos. At least Gimmick wouldnt've called him Teddy Dustpan, the Lollipop, like the Grunges did in "Guests of the Grunges".

Yeah, lol, except I think Gimmick would have asked him what kind of creature he was. Teddy didn't normally go around introducing himself as Teddy Ruxpin the illiop. That would have been hillarious.

Good point. It definitely would've made for a hilarious scene in the tv series.

Yeah, maybe if they do a remake of the series they can add that in there. They could have razzed Gimmick about that for the rest of the show like they razz Grubby about his root stew.

Or how Grubby razzes Gimmick about his inventions, especially when they don't work the way they're supposed to.

I love to watch friends razz each other, so this makes the series that much more awesome. I notice, though, that Teddy never seems to razz anybody and the only time I ever saw anyone pick on Teddy was when the crystals were at MAVO and everyone was being jerky except Teddy.

You really could break the main three down quite easily.
Gimmick - the friend who, while being smart, thinks he's smarter than he actually is Grubby - the friend who's brutally honest Teddy - the lone voice of reason, who often gets stuck playing mediator between the other two

Kinda sounds familiar doesn't it? Can anyone say Kirk, Spock and McCoy from Star Trek? Lol. Not entirely true. When Teddy introduced himself to the Grunges in "Guests of the Grunges", the Grunges make fun of him by saying, " Hey this guy's Teddy Dustpan, he's a Lollipop!" then promptly laughing at the small joke. And Tweeg called him shorty in "The Medicine Wagon". Those are the only two instances where somebody picks on Teddy, besides the one you mentioned.

Oops. Maybe I thought that was one of the bad guys when I heard that. That's what happens when you only get the audio and everyone's voices are different from the tape other than Teddy and Grubby.

No no. You're right. Everybody did pick on Teddy when they were evil as a result of MAVO having all seven crystals, but that's the third out of three instances where Teddy is picked on by somebody. To be honest, when I was a kid and would watch the show, and listen to the tapes, I actually didn't really hear the difference between Tony Pope (Gimmick on the tapes) and John Stocker (Gimmick on the show), as they both made Gimmick sound more similar than Tweeg and LB did between the two versions.

And on that note, am I the only one who prefers the TV series' renditions of Tweeg and LB? They're the ones I grew up with, as I'm pretty sure that the pair don't appear in *any* of the Teddy II tapes! (And certainly not in the three that I had/have.)

I think Tweeg sounds very similar. I can hardly tell them apart. I do like the TV version of LB because it makes him sound hillarious.

I'll be honest, Tweeg and LB were only in two of the stories I had as a kid. "Grubby's Romance" and "Tweeg Gets the Tweezles". So, my exposure to them were mainly from the tv series. I also had the animatronic movie on VHS, and of course they used the same voice actors and actresses from the Adventure Series tapes. But, when it came to Tweeg and LB, the tv show is how I saw and heard them. I wouldn't say I prefer the tv voices over the originals, but the originals I barely got to hear as the characters were only in two of the stories.

Tweeg and LB weren't on very many of the tapes at all. They were probably featured so heavily on the cartoon to have a little more of a storyline. The tapes were short and I guess they would have to be self-contained so kids, or more likely parents, wouldn't be forced to buy all the tapes.

They were main characters, part of the five that Ken Forsse originally conceived of, but they weren't in very many of the stories. Though there are a couple of tapes that refer back to earlier ones. Like "Anything in the Soup" brings back the Anythings and the Trio's last encounter with them is mentioned. "The Missing Princess" is the second part of the original story created by Ken Forsse, the first part being, "The Airship", "The Medicine Wagon" refers back to "Tweeg and the Bounders", "The Third Crystal" refers back to "Double Grubby" and "Take a Good Look", and "Winter Adventure" refers back to "Teddy and the Mudblups". So, yeah they're all self-contained in the way that there's no story arc that runs through all the tapes, but they are all linked by references.
