Here's a bit of fan-art I've come up with lately. Different types of Illiops, not just Teddy and his people from Rillonia. But some new ones.First two, based on the sun bear (left) and giant panda (right). I was somewhat lazy with outfits, each Illiop actually wears a different outfit.Next two are based on the polar bear (left) and sloth bear (right). Those based on polar bears come from the snowy Northern parts of Ying. I've heard that mountain explorers wear bright colors so rescue teams will spot them easily. The other three types are found in a village called Illiopia in the land of Equestria living peacefully with the ponies (Earth ponies, Pegasi and unicorns alike). An idea I had for a sequel to Josh/monkeyboy5185's story. Still not sure which type Amber (Teddy's love interest) should look like, either like Teddy or one of those above. What do you all think?

SWEET!!! I really like the Giant Panda Illiops! (But my opinion is biased because I really want a Giant Panda mascot costume.) Keep it up. It is a good idea. This could actually be used as an idea for further works; make all the Illiops, which are described as mild-mmannered anthropomorphic bear creatures, get along with one another and live in relative peace and harmony with each other as a lesson to mankind about getting along with fellow mankind despite differences in sizes, shapes colors and mannerisms of others.
Would they have adoopted cultures that reflect the people here on Earth or would you go with something entirely different on Grundo? (what I mean to say is for instance, the Panda similar to the culture of Ancient China or would it have another culture entirely?) That is some cool stuff to think about.

And you're right, it would be a good lesson for people to get along with others of different races, different cultures or different religions. That was on an episode of Captain Planet. I haven't thought about the Giant Panda Illiops being similar to the cultures of Ancient China. It is an interesting idea. Thanks again.

It would be kind of neat to associate the various types of Illiops with various real-life cultures, even if it is commercial or slightly stereotypical, because it would reach to a bigger audience. People could get their minds around a German Brown Bear Illiops having a German accent and wearing lederhosen for instance.
I would like to ask: are you painting these with water colors or are you taking a more hands on approach with finger paints? Whichever it is, I like the coloring you are using.
And forgive another question with might be ignorant. Aside from MAVO, Grubby and a couple other characters, are a great majority of the inhabitants of Grundo Illiopses?

Yeah, it would be interesting. Though, I'm just worried about stereotyping.
I'm using acrylics actually. I've used watercolors for backgrounds but I've always been informed that acrylics are more my thing.
Anyways, I think Illiops were a major race in Grundo, until the Gutangs took over and they fled for Rillonia. Though, there's belief that there maybe lost colonies of Illiops hidden within Ying and Grundo.

Acrylics? Hmmm. I wouldn't have thought of painting on paper or canvas with them. My mother is into tole-painting (or toll-painting) which is primarily German, Dutch and Germanic folk style painting and they use acrylics. I have only ever used acrylics to paint ceramic stuff. The best quality is of course, they are opaque, like oils.
Stereotypes are possibly a problem, but then, when it comes to describing types of people or in this case, making an analogue to people, it might help so that there can be some level of connection made by the audience. Or at least have a trait that is common among specific "races" of illiops.
