I can confirm her refurb price is right around $100. Yes - it's always best to go right to the source. This site doesn't specifically sponsor any particular refurbishment service - but Dr. Eeyore is the only one I will refer, based on my own personal correspondence with the proprietor which has always been productive and friendly, and the testimonies of others who have used the service. I still can't 'bear' the thought of sending my original Teddy off - not because of any distrust of the repair service but because of distrust in our postal service I do have a working WoW Teddy I bought off Ebay that doesn't hold sentimental value that is showing signs of slowing down that I will send off to Dr. Eeyore when that time comes.

So how many Teddys do you have in total Josh? I have a total of two, both of them WoW Teddys. One is the original WoW Teddy I, and the second is the smaller, WoW Teddy II, who's cassette tape player is plastic, instead of metal. As far as I can remember, both work perfectly, though, when my dad digs out my Teddy Ruxpin books, I may ask him to dig out a couple of tapes and both toys just to double check to see if they work.

2 - original 'big' Worlds of Wonder versions, a Yes!, two BackPack versions and the plush version that didn't have anything inside except stuffing.

Wow!!! So, that's all of them. I envy you. Dumb Canada sucks when it comes to getting stuff like that. Especially after the fact.

I was looking at this lady's web site the other day and I thought it said she wouldn't be available until January 2013 because of some family issues. I have a Teddy, possibly two, coming to me that I'm getting from Ebay and I think they are in need of some therapy. I'd like to either try to do the repairs myself or get a family member to help me using online tutorials. What do you guys think? I basically have no vision at all, so I'm not sure if I could do it, but I'd love to learn how if it was possible.

@josh - I don't have a Playskool version. Still looking on Ebay now and then. As functionality doesn't really matter - I have the Wow and BackPack versions to talk to me - I'm looking for one that is cheap and clean just for decoration and to keep the Yes! version company in the silent row

Very nice. Well, as I've mentioned in another post, once my brother moves out, I'm getting his bedroom, and transforming it into my den, where I hope to put my Teddy Ruxpins on display, with the books, tapes, the Tweeg figure I have, the Grundo playmat, along with all of my Star Trek collectibles, which aren't too numerous, so they should be able to co-exist in the same room, without fighting when I'm not in the room (Sheriff Woody vs Buzz Lightyear anyone?)

If things get too outrageous Spock and Teddy should be enough of a collective voice of reason to calm it back down

retrobear - I remember reading that Dr. Eeyore would be out of commission for a bit. As I said earlier it's still the only service I feel comfortable referring - but don't take that as I have anything against any of the others. I simply don't know them. I believe she has tutorials. Good luck on your repairs and share the results with us!

Monkeyboy, lol! That'll be a cool room though.
I have a bear I want to send off to Dr. Eeyore. I emailed her about him because he's in horrible shape. It's my "first" Teddy, and he hasn't worked since I was six or seven. I say "first" because he's actually second generation, and my real first Teddy was given to me Christmas of '85. This second bear was sent to me from the Grundo Hospital along with his PJs and another lullabies tape. They just couldn't fix my original, so my dad told me. This poor bear has been through so much, I wore out the fur on his thumbs. Even after he stopped working, I still played with him.
I emailed Dr. Eeyore about the bear with pictures of the damages, and she said she could fix him. She may even start taking in bears one at a time soon, so she put me on a waiting list just in case which has me sort of excited. I'd love to see my bear working again, even though I already have a working one who's first gen.

I'll have to look at Dr Eeyore's site myself and perhaps send her an E-mail to confirm this, it's not that I don't trust you retrobear, but it's always best as I've learned the hard way to go directly to the source for information. If indeed it's true that she's out of commission until January next year as you suggest then I might have to look for other options, I've already pointed one out, but I'll just have to see what becomes of this and what happens next.

Well, I've looked at Dr Eeyore's site and indeed what you people are saying is true, she isn't taking repair requests until next year it would appear, so I'm currently feeling a little bit lost. When my eBay bought Teddy Ruxpin started developing problems in late 2010 I contacted Dr. Eeyore on the advice of blueoctopede on YouTube and was told what was wrong with My Teddy Ruxpin involved replacing the servo motors. At the time I was completely against sending him overseas for various reasons, it just seems a bit silly to send the thing overseas for repairs, but that's the way it must be I guess. As I say I did look at Google last night to see if I could find anyone here in Australia who could fix it, but didn't find anything particularly promising sadly, now I wish I'd acted sooner, guess who feels like a bit of an idiot now. Dr Eeyore's sight points to someone I believe called Whitney(?) Green, so I might try and contact that parson, or send Dr Eeyore an E-mail just to confirm the situation, though this seems completely unnecessary, or contact the YouTube user applesocks89 who's given name I'm certainly not going to divulge here for obvious reasons and maybe take up his offer of repairing my Teddy Ruxpin for me should that be necessary, I just don't exactly feel too comfortable or confident in doing that. So for the moment it looks like this is where things stand right now.

Geez, a Vulcan and an Illiop being the voices of reason for a bunch of toys. Boy, that would've made an awesome Toy Story movie. Lol.
Oh it will be. I've got big plans for that room. I might even ask my dad to put nails in the wall so I can hang the Grundo playmat on the wall like a poster. But definitely my Teddy Ruxpin stuff and Star Trek stuff will be going in that room.
If I ever need one of my Teddy Ruxpins fixed, and my dad can't do it, I'll look up Dr. Eeyore, check the service out. Though, as I said, as far as I know, both of mine are still in working order, though once the books come out of storage, I'll double check just to make sure.

Lol, I don't think your toys would be fighting with Teddy and Grubby around. Teddy would probably be too busy trying to get them to sing.

Lol. That's a good point. Unfortunately, Teddy will have to try without Grubby, as I never had the opportunity to get the Grubby that was the companion for the WoW Teddy I.
